Powerful, Quiet, and Cool!
The media could not be loaded. We wanted an air purifier to help with allergies, which have been particularly bad this year. The first thing I was looking for was high output (CADR) and low noise level, I was familiar with this brand from using their heaters for years and when I saw they had this new air purifier with the specs I was looking for it was an obvious choice. Setup was as simple as you would expect, open box, lift the unit out (there are two hand holds just behind the display), unwrap the filter, then plug it in. I was immediately impressed by the flow of clean air coming out of this thing, on the higher settings I can feel the column of filtered air flowing up as high as I can reach, and the noise level even on max is quite low, you can hear it, but it’s quiet enough to not interfere with quiet conversation a few feet away. I was also happy to find the sound is mostly the “white noise” of flowing air rather than a hum or whine that is more intrusive and annoying. On the lower settings I don’t hear it at all. Beyond the key basics of “does it clean a lot of air without making a fuss” there are a lot of features included on this air purifier including some that aren’t common in the market. Like a lot of models, it has an air quality sensor that monitors the particulate level in the room, can tell you how clean your air is, and can automatically adjust the fan power based on air quality. I didn’t think much of this until my wife seared some steaks on the stove and smoked up the kitchen a little bit, a minute later this air purifier in our living room sped up automatically and ran on high for about 5 minutes before gradually ramping back down to a slow/silent speed as the smoke was cleared. Cool. A couple of other common but useful features are a timer that can be set to turn the purifier off or on after some delay and, a child lock to discourage younger kids from messing with it. I also appreciate that it has a wide range of brightness settings for the display and an actual dark mode setting where there are no lights of any sort unless you’re actively changing something. If we were putting this in our bedroom that would be a very appreciated feature. A more unique feature is that this model will test the filter once per day and tells you if when your filter needs replacement. Other models I’ve used have a timer that says “replace the filter” after a certain amount of time, but that’s always seemed like a poor way to guess at when to replace a filter and, let’s be honest, it’s really easy to just press that button and forget about it for another 6 months. I saw this feature in action when after a couple weeks it said the filter was at about 80%. At first, I was concerned that the filter might not last as long as I expected, but after I cleaned the pre-filter and re-ran the test it again showed 100% filter life remaining, so it actually does sense how clogged up your filter is, but it can’t tell if the clogging is in the prefilter or the primary hepa filter. From now on if it says I need a new filter, I’ll start by cleaning the prefilter. Other than all of this, this thing is just cool. It looks cool, the display and controls that glow from behind a gloss black surface when needed and then vanish when not are cool. I like the level of control I have over fan speed (there are 9 or 10 different speed options) I like light-up analog-style gauge that changes colors depending on what information it’s showing, seems like a well-thought out product.
