I've been using the Dental Herb Company Essentials Fluoride-Free Toothpaste for the past few weeks and wanted to share my honest experience. While it's a solid product with genuine strengths, it does have a learning curve that's worth knowing about. What I Really Like: The ingredient list genuinely impressed me. It's nice to use a toothpaste that's fluoride-free and SLS-free with a thoughtful herbal blend including echinacea, gotu kola, thyme, and eucalyptus oils. The peppermint flavor is fresh and natural-tasting—not overpowering like mainstream brands. My mouth feels clean and refreshed after brushing, and the fresh sensation lingers pleasantly even after rinsing. The Texture Issue: Here's my main gripe: the consistency is noticeably thinner than conventional toothpastes. If you're not paying close attention, it will drip off your brush or down your hand while brushing. I actually stained a shirt the first time I used it because I wasn't prepared for how runny it is. You also get minimal foaming action, which makes sense for an SLS-free product, but it does feel different from what most people are accustomed to. That said, once you adjust your brushing routine and apply the right amount, it works fine. Value Consideration: At this price point, this is positioned as a premium product compared to conventional toothpastes. If clean ingredients and avoiding fluoride and SLS are priorities for you, the cost is reasonable for a natural brand. However, if you're budget-conscious or skeptical about the ingredient philosophy, it's worth considering whether the natural ingredient approach justifies the premium for your specific needs. Durability: The tube is a good size, and a small amount goes a long way, so it should last a reasonable amount of time despite the higher per-ounce cost. My Take: I'd recommend this toothpaste if you're already committed to a fluoride-free routine or specifically want to avoid SLS and other harsh additives found in mainstream brands. The natural botanical blend and clean ingredient list are genuine positives. The flavor is enjoyable, and the overall quality feels appropriate for the natural product category. Just know that the thinner consistency requires a slight adjustment in how you apply and handle it during brushing. Overall, it's a solid product that delivers what it promises, even if it's not perfect for everyone. Read more

This fluoride-free toothpaste sits on the bathroom sink and gets used every morning before work. The texture is smooth and the mint taste is light and clean. It foams a little even without SLS, which was a nice surprise. Brushing after breakfast leaves the mouth feeling fresh for a short time, and the plant-based formula feels gentle on the gums. The tube is easy to squeeze and the size works well for a small household. The downside is the cleaning strength feels a bit mild. Coffee stains from morning drinks do not fade much even after several days. Breath freshness also fades quicker than expected, so another brushing is sometimes needed later in the day. Compared with regular toothpaste, the teeth do not feel quite as polished after brushing. This toothpaste works fine for light cleaning and the ingredients are simple, which some people may appreciate. Still, the result did not fully match expectations for long-lasting freshness and stain control. It works okay but there are areas that could be stronger. Read more
I think of this review as an experience review, as much as a product review. I never really questioned my toothpaste before. It was just something I grabbed off the shelf. But after trying this fluoride-free, plant-based formula, I’m rethinking things a bit. From a pure product standpoint, I genuinely like it. The color is a soft, light putty shade… not the bright white you’re used to with conventional brands. The brushing experience (I use a popular sonic electric toothbrush) felt very similar to what I’m accustomed to, but the overall sensation did feel cleaner and, for lack of a better word, more natural. The flavor is interesting in a good way. It’s not the aggressive, all mint of giant-company commercial pastes. There’s still freshness, but you can detect subtle botanical notes from the herbal blend. It’s refreshing without being overpowering. I did a bit of homework on fluoride before ordering this. Fluoride is well-studied and clearly effective for reducing cavities, especially for people at higher risk of decay. That said, for adults with good oral hygiene and regular dental care, some prefer limiting systemic exposure and using products focused on clean ingredients. This toothpaste fits squarely in that camp. There is no fluoride, no artificial colors, no harsh additives. For me, this works well as a daily option and feels like a high-quality, clean product. If you’re curious about trying a fluoride-free toothpaste but don’t want to sacrifice freshness or performance, this is a solid choice. I’d recommend it. With a smile! Read more

First.. I would personally never recommend Fluoride free toothpaste in most scenarios. It's proven to be good for your teeth. However, I recognize not everyone sees the same way, so I ordered a bottle for guests who may be particular and wish for a more natural toothpaste. I've tried it just to see, and the taste is very minty, pretty nice I guess, and does keep my breath nice as well afterwards. It's a pretty creamy white color for toothpaste, and the ingredients seem to be very natural which is another plus. So again - reviewing this from the point of a fluoride FREE toothpaste, which I can say, it does it's job. It's effective as can be, but is a bit pricy for toothpaste, the main reason for four stars instead of five. Read more
