This device, although similar to other cheaper IR thermometers, is far better. Quality control is a priority. According to ennologic.com, each unit is checked thoroughly for accuracy, before it is sold. They back that up each device with a 10 year warranty. The eT650D has features not found in most of the cheaper units and not even some of the more expensive ones. For example, you can log upto 20 measurements in memory, something more expensive IR thermometers won't do. You have the option to continually scan without having to keep pressing the trigger, again something the more expensive IR guns won't do. Dual lasers, again a more high end feature, useful for localizing the precise area to be temperature scanned, can be turned off. The display is bright when you want it, or you can turn it off. You have the ability to modify the emmisivity setting to improve the accuracy of your readings, just like with the more expensive F brand devices. You expect and have modes that give you Max, Min,Avg, and Difference between 2 readings. Having audible alarms that can be set for your chosen high or low temperatures is another nice feature. Moreover, the unit operates in a wider temperature than most: -50C to 650C (-58F to 1202F) I tested the accuracy of my device with both boiling water and a slurry of ice and water. The measurements were spot on. My only complaint with the device is the tight battery compartment, which makes fitting in the 9 volt battery into it a bit tricky. The wires must be looped and tucked in carefully along side the battery above the battery clips in order for the handle door to latch correctly. When I had trouble doing this, Customer Support came to my rescue by emailing me a picture showing me exactly how to do it. With a 22 hour battery life, I shouldn't have to be doing this often, although if I keep playing with this new device, I may be changing that battery pretty soon. . Read more

At work we were planning a plant trial for Monday and on Friday I realized that our old IR Temp Gun was broken. I needed a NIST certified IR thermometer by Monday and this one came up on my feed. It says it would be delivered the next day with the certification and I was skeptical. Lo and behold it did arrive the next day with the certification. This IR thermometer does exactly as it says. It is very lightweight and has all the standard features needed and the fact it came with a NIST certification was a life savor. The price is great too and something I would very much consider purchasing in the future. Also it came with the battery which was a huge plus. Read more

So this IRT is easy to use, accurate, and comfortable in the hand. Problem with being able to see the read out due to poor numbering size, but mostly shade. Could use a good back light to enhance the numbers. Too costly for that reason. Read more

I love this thermometer. If you want a certified thermometer, be sure to select the NIST calibrated one. It comes with a certificate that is good for a year. Don't complain that you did not get a certificate because you need to select that. It is a bit more expensive, however, if you want a serious big boy thermometer it is worth it. I'm saying that because I bought a toy one here and returned it. This is the real deal and worth every penny. I use it for everything from cooking, refrigeration, HVAC, computer cooling systems, and whatever you can think of that requires a thermometer. Also, don't complain about the lasers being misaligned. They are supposed to converge at a set distance and that's where you need to be to get the most accurate reading. If you need a solid, reliably accurate infrared thermometer this one is the one to get. Read more

I decided on this temperature gun as it had a higher maximum temperature capability than most of the competition. There is even a higher max temp rated model available if needed. I was really looking for something with min max and avg capability and this does a great job with that. You can scan for a while then get he min max and avg for the entire scan period. It also can set an alarm for any low and high temp you want and then beep when the low or high is exceeded during scanning. There is nice backlighting which can be enabled or disabled . Warning this same capability can also disable the laser (not sure why i would) but you can. The box it came in was utterly high quality and kind of hard to open but certainly nice. The carrying case is decent and i might use it because it basically the exact size of he gun and no bigger. The gun feels nice and while not of the highest quality ... it’s not super cheap either imho. I’ll be careful with it. I did find the battery was difficult to put in without making the cover hard to close. Because I read this on another review I tried a number of configurations and got it to close pretty easily on the 6th try. Then i discovered the instructions included a one page thing saying to go Online and they would show a video on how to do this. If i has only read the instructions first! The instructions were pretty good and in lots of languages unfortunately. Because of the 10:1 ratio and the two lasers you have to be about 8” away for optional spacing of the two lasers. You can read further away but then the lasers are also pretty far away. I can aim at my TV and it got one laser on the top and the bottom of the screen. So it’s best to be fairly close to what you are measuring. All in all this seems like a great product. I bought it to measure my catalytic converters before and after to see if the cat is good or bad. (Generally temp is high and gets even higher after the cat if it’s working. On a broken cat the temp goes down. So could save you hundreds if you have just been told You need a new cat $1000-2000 . It might just be your sensors or something else. Read more
