Uncomfortable and difficult to remove

I’m NOT a fan of the Exos splints/braces. The mechanism to tighten/loosen is cumbersome and frustrating. It is very tight so to remove with one hand (the opposite hand) is not easy. And tightening it often gets tangled. It smells horrible if you sweat in it... and washing it with soap still doesn’t remove the awful smell. And keep in mind if you wash it with soap and water, it will take 10-12 hours to air dry. If you dry with a hair dryer, it will get warm and lose shape and will need to be remolded. The fit is unfomfortable and often presses on tender wrist bones. I was given this splint after surgery for a broken wrist and have hated it the entire time. Planning to buy a different brace to wear for the last 3 weeks - as I cannot stand this one. Read more

For TFCC issues it worked well

This was prescribed by a hand surgeon to help address the TFCC diagnosis for my right wrist. It's primary benefits are a) how it's molded to adapt to the exact shape of the person being fitted with it (if done correctly) and b) the BOA ratcheting mechanism with its thin nylon cord. allowing even tension to be set up along the full run of the cord up and down the length of the brace. When worn routinely, I found it eliminated the TFCC generated pain in my wrist. It does limit what one can do with the hand as it reaches down as far as the base of the hand. So e.g. the use of hand tools becomes difficult. Two physical therapists explained to me that building and fitting a custom brace, which they routinely do, won't produce as effective an even tension up and down the full brace as this device. They recommended replacing the original one I misplaced rather than building a custom brace. Read more
