feel like it's just too much of a hassle to return this but it definitely doesn't make my chair slide any easier (I have carpet and use it in my office). It says "for carpets" and "heavy duty" but is DEFINITELY not for either.... maybe for super short carpet? Read more

So I did not know how badly I needed one of these until I ordered this heavy duty chair mat! It is extra thick, has a nonslip grip, and comes in a very nice large size of 48" x 36". I was looking for something to put in my art studio, I have really had a hard time with dropping paints on my wooden floor, and although I do have a very extremely low pile carpet underneath that isn't that expensive, I just didn't wanna keep messing it up. That's where this little gem comes in! The nonslip grip is perfect so I'm not slipping and sliding around. However, the smooth surface makes it easy for my studio to glide seamlessly over the surface. This mat functions perfectly with the heavy duty 0.1 inch transparent plastic. And whenever I spill paints or anything else, they are super easy to clean up. That was the main reason I got this mat, was for easy cleanup, and I can attest it definitely is easy to clean!!!! This not only functions as a chair mat, you can also use it in any area where you want to protect your carpet, wooden floors, tiles, etc. It's very versatile and functions for more than just a chair mat. I like this idea, as I do have four dogs, so I may just be ordering another one for their playpen. Now here is why I gave this four stars versus five, I had a heck of a time getting it to lay flat. A matter of fact, I still don't have it completely flat, and I may take others up on their ideas as far as putting it out in the sun. A hairdryer did not work on it, nor did pulling on it, and just trying to keep it flat for a period of time with books on each end! I truly do believe, though that everyone should have one of these. I do suggest like others said, putting it in the sun so it unravels. It sounds like that works...however, aside from it being really hard to unravel, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for an elderly person! There’s no smell and the only advice I have if you pick up this mat, is true get a heavy box or wait to assist you in unrolling it as you will need it to lay on top of the mat to hold it down to keep it flat for a few days as I will be honest, this is the hardest mat ever had to unroll bc It is extremely thick, durable & well-made, so therefore it will be stiff upon arrival, which is a natural occurrence. But I just grabbed a couple of boxes that had some weight to it, and unenrolled it a little bit using my foot to stand on the mat, to keep the rolled up end from rolling back up & placed my box on top of the pot I had unrolled, then moved my foot onto the next part kind of looks like walking on it to get it unenrolled. I will say the hassle of getting it to be flat and unrolling it is definitely well worth it as this mat will last few years and years. Read more
