The controller shell is easy to swap but the touchpad will require a deeper breakdown including using a blow dryer to melt glue, then break a circuit board off the back side of the old touchpad. I also installed a back button kit at the same time. It's a little tricky to juggle different installation instructions especially because you will only want to open the controller once. Including a button swap this took a whole day of troubleshooting. Be prepared to open and close up the controller many times. Make sure you fully test the controller before putting the final screw back in. You can do it! Read more
The controller skin itself is like slick and matte to the touch but appears “3d printed” but it’s high quality! Would’ve given 5 stars if the videos on their YouTube were more clear and had a voice explaining, I’m a beginner but they’re instructions were not that intimidating except with the heat gun, I’ve had experience with crafts before so luckily I had one, otherwise I would’ve been cooked. This product should advertise how long it will take a beginner and make it more clear how “difficult” it is. It was fun to make, felt like Lego but I had a few scared and the controller came out nice. I wish there was a bundled price for the buttons and front plate with the under plate, since the strain of disassembly was hard but not boring! I bought two skins for my PS5 controllers and they both look and fit great. For around 20 bucks, this is a great deal. I would highly recommend. The install can be intimidating and time-consuming depending on your level of experience working on electronics. However, the youtube video on extremeRates website was very helpful. FYI, you will need tweezers and a hair dryer/heat gun in addition to the tools provided in the kit. Read more
My controllers now look great! I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. The quality of the parts seem just as good as Sony's. The installation was easy, with the help of their videos. It was time consuming, but went faster after I got familiar with the first one. I will try to remember to post an update after six months to comment on how they hold up. Read more
I bought all my parts from extremerate and the outcome came out really nice buying all the parts gave me extra parts to build another controller. The only thing I was worried about was removing the touch pad and putting it in joker pad. Just take your time when you’re disassembling your controller. Other than that everything works great and it looks cool as well. Read more
