Both my spouse and I have first gen PS5s and we've taken good care of them. However, a few months back both of our units started to randomly shut down without warning. We did the usual of cleaning them out of dust/dirt, but the problems persisted. We scoured the various sites for suggestions and solutions and we tried all of them to no avail. Ultimately, it was an overheating issue. We did try various external fan units and other products, but none of them seemed to work. The last suggestion we saw was to try a side vented version of the PS5 shells. It did the trick! Having the hot air blow directly outward dropped the temperature readings considerably and neither of us have had an issue of random shut down since then. Even with the more demanding games, there were no issues and even our frame rates stabilized. This particular purple one was great. The pictures they have on here are fairly accurate. This product looks not so great as the color is just solid black and the black center on the PS5 makes the whole system just a black area and hard to even see. This an all PS5 cover plates can be tricky to put on and tack off. These broke the hooks when trying to take off. I would not recommend this product. Read more
