Dont worry about the width, the material is ultra stretchy. It is high waste and perfect for apple shape bodies. No issues with rolling down below the belly. Because it is ultra stretch and comfortable there is no sculpting. You may want to pair it with something that has body shapping sculpting. I like to wear these with my body shapping leggings. This is my 2nd purchase in two weeks. My first purchase was of XL, which was the suggestion. When it arrived, I ended up figuring out it's near the genre of skims. They did fit but became loose. After deciding that these could potentially be a good undergarment to wear under leggings, I came back and ordered a size L. What a difference one size down has made. I am 190lbs, 5'10", bottom heavy, long torso and smaller waist. So, my advice to anyone purchasing this item, please size down. Especially my long torso, Itty bitty waist and fat bottom girlie.
