I read a lot of reviews before trying this out. So far, this is my reaction: (1) The product should be shipped in the packaging SHOWN IN THE DESCRIPTION. It came loosely packed in a plain box. Showing it packaged as it is in the manufacturer's photo is surely a warranty that this is what we will receive?? At least, this is what I was always told. That it wasn't made me wonder if it had been tampered with by someone somewhere in the supply chain, who knows where or why. I agreed with the other reviewers who said that this caused them to lose confidence, though I don't really see how anyone could have done so, given the design. Anyway, it looks like what I see in the pgotos. (2) The detergent-like look and smell made my nose and throat sore when I made the mistake of sniffing like I was sampling perfume., but I admit that the litter box closet smells less like what it is than a laundry room. I strongly agree that this kind of odor is better at neutralizing the scent of ammonia saturated litter than a prettier masking scent that would leave it smelling like ammonia saturated cranberries or roses. (3) Given the price, I am bothered by the fact that it doesn't look like it will last 14 days, never mind 50 (or perhaps I just didn't read it carefully enough?) I hope I will be pleasantly surprised. But many reviewers have seen it evaporate way faster than advertised. (4) I understand that once the seal is punctured, the level will drop. However, breaking the seal seems kind of random. Did I do it wrong? Is it TOO punctured so that the product is evaporating too fast? The mechanism (puncturing a thin foil membrane) doesn't seem like it would give consistent results. So, like others, I can only say that, based on what I've seen over the short term, I expected better from dear Febreze, which has always in my past experience delivered products of consistent quality. The smell wasn't my favorite but that may just be a matter of personal taste. They smelled clean which is the most important part. I also wanted something that was safe for my pets. The design is very convenient, in that you don't have to be near a plug to put them somewhere. That made it very easy to put them behind a vase or something else discreetly in the bathroom.
