I purchased the basket for ease of care and sanitary purposes. It is well-made, looks good and very easy to clean. Just wipe it down with disinfectant or rinse it with soap and water. I line it with a towel and replace the towel every 3 days or so. My cats love to take naps in it. My cats weigh about 10 pounds each and the small size basket is a good fit for them.
