This gold-collred product and the stainless steel M23 are now my go-to DAC and players for smaller but high quality Android players--but I have a soft spot for the Walkman NW-A106 also for its size and quality as a notable mention. Both the m23 and M33 are setup with added in SDXC cards for my own local offline music (alot of documentation is WRONG the M33 r2r DOES have a sdxc slot on the bottom!) and max res Tidal and they each have beautiful sound. Second only to my favorite treasured flagship unit the beautiful golden Sony NW-WM1ZM2, my three favorite portable music players now. Each has its beauty and features, depends on my mood and which one has the best charge that day. The settings on the M33 are very good, very refined sound and options like Fiio's version of the Sony NW-WM1ZM2. Highly recommended. I use the coax 1/8" spdif output and 4.4mm balanced outputs for home and portable uses, specifically. Be sure to upgrade code to the 1.01 version because the shipped fw 1.00 ver is full of little bugs and the Chinese to English conversion is incomplete until you load 1.01 code. Read more
Works as expected ! But I had some small issues during music play, with some unexpected stops or jump track. Nice player with great sound. I use it with Meze classic gen2 and Fiio FT1 pro and both are pleasant to listen. Read more
RAW !!! True Analog sound . Sounds superb ! You can EQ a sound profile to any headphones ever made . I mean any ! And almost all IEMs frequency response curve ! Including PENON lol I got all Penon IEMs but it’s amazing you can auto EQ to Penon IEMs , what a trip ! But this M33 is amazing in sound quality , functionality and build . Very high quality and R2R sound is nice ! I collect Dongle Dacs but this is my first DAP . I took a chance cause it’s R2R and this M33 and what it does in the settings is unlike anything iv experienced . I can use it for Line out to Headphone Amps . So much to find out what else I can do with this . FIIO did a great job with this DAP ! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS ! You can set it as Balanced or Enhanced Warm wich Warm is richer sounding . Natural sounding . The price is kinda high but if your thinkin of buying . Do it ! You won’t regret it ! Read more

So the only complaint I have is I wish it was like a$100 so more people could enjoy the heaven that comes outta this device, it's smooth and rich sounding with my IEMS and my Plannars, I haven't found one thing wrong with it yet and I've look almost everywhere too trying to find faults and I simply can't... I was hoping this device would have similar sound quality to Fiio's excellent DM15 R2R and very good K11 R2R, both of which have similar resistor ladder DACs and similar amplifier specs. However, this item lacks the same life and vibrance to the sound, the bass is weak, and the bass lacks texture and feels dampened or constrained. The build quality is very good, the software and interface are very good, it is fast and responsive, and is a good value for the price point and power. It does sound notably better than the other Fiio DAPs ive tried and disliked sonically (M17, JM21), but it still has the general character of the Fiio house sound, which im not fond of, with the exception of DM15 and JM21. (DAC Warmer is great too!). Soundstage is average. You'll probably love it if your ear isnt as critical, if you love the fiio house sound, or your not using high-end headphones. It's not a bad product, and it could have been a home run if it had the same sou d as the DM15 R2R, but it missed my expectations and I am returning it. 4 stars because it has a lot of power and an r2r DAC at a competitive price point, good build, and good interface. Knocked off a star for sound quality issues in the low end. Read more
