These are not 4" wide , they are 3-3/4" the old one setting next to the new one. I have had these for a few months cause I purchased after I installed my last one so Bought these for replacements when needed . Or else Id return them ! My ac air filter has a uncomment size which is 17x20x1. I can't find this size anywhere in the local store. I am glad I found it online and it fits perfectly. This filter's quality is awesome because I can feel the difference without it. it traps most of airborne particles as small as microns, including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and even some bacteria.
