Made w/o chemicals or dyes
The media could not be loaded. Based on the exceptional quality, this turtleneck sweater deserves 5 stars. It's soft, warm, and light as a feather. It's made without any chemical additives or dyes. The ivory shade of the cashmere is the natural color of the goat hair (cashmere comes from goats). The cashmere is humanely sourced. I looked up how cashmere is typically collected, and it's far from humane. Knowing that this cashmere was ethically and humanely sourced means a lot. I just received the sweater (arrived 20 min ago) and I was so excited, I immediately opened the box and tried it on. The box is lovely, normally I never mention packaging, but this is something special. The walls of the box are very thick, and they look and feel just like a hardcover book that's been bound in linen. It feels luxurious. The top of the box opens like the cover of a book, and it has a magnetized clasp to keep the top securely closed. It's an impressive way to package a garment, and it's particularly well suited for gifting. Inside the box, there is a solid, cedar wood ball, it's hanging from a narrow rope looped through it--making it look like a small, wooden xmas ornament. The cedar has a natural scent that repels moths, this will help keep the moths from chewing holes in the sweater. Just be sure to store the cedar ornament near the sweater (inside would be ideal). If the wooden bead starts to lose the distinctive cedar aroma, you can use a piece of sandpaper to buff/refresh the surface (renewing the protective cedar scent). I ordered a large, and it fits fine, but if I were to order another sweater, I would get a medium or maybe even a small. It comes down to personal preference. If I wanted a loose, relaxed fit, then large is the right size, but if I wanted the sweater to be fitted, I would get a medium or a small. Since there is a lot of stretch to the fabric, I think any size would fit and look good. I filmed a video wearing the sweater to show how it looks and fits. For comparison, I am 5'7", 130 lbs. The sweater kept me warm when I went outside (56F), and when wearing it indoors (72F), it's very comfortable and it hasn't made me overly warm (I overheat easily). It breathes well and wicks away moisture. These unique characteristics of cashmere are due to the very fine fibers--and their large surface area which traps and holds onto pockets of air (great insulation). As a result, cashmere is up to 8x warmer than wool of equal weight. One potential negative (some may view it as a positive) is that the sweater is see-through. In the video, I'm wearing a black bra and it's clearly visible underneath the sweater. But it's not just dark undergarments, colors and also whites can clearly be seen through the cashmere. The only color you won't see through the sweater? That would be a neutral shade that is the same color as your skin. Since I tried the sweater on right out of the box, none of the creases or wrinkles were removed before filming. If I had taken a few extra minutes, I would have gently steamed the sweater and it would have looked perfectly smooth. Read more
