This little rice cooker is clearly designed with backpacking in mind. It’s very lightweight, packs down small, and works well with Fire-Maple systems. It cooks rice evenly and the water level markings make it easy to use without much guesswork. The capacity is small, but that’s expected for ultralight gear and works well for solo trips or quick meals. Cleanup is fast and it doesn’t take up much room in a pack. If you’re into minimalist or backpacking setups, this is a useful piece to have. Read more

This little rice cooker is really light and small, which is great for backpacking and hiking, and it fits well with the Petrel G3 pot and Quickboil system, making it easy to cook rice outdoors without needing a big stove; the sealing ring and locking clasp feel secure, and it doesn’t spill while cooking, which is convenient, and you can also use it to steam eggs or warm up soup, which makes it a multi-purpose tool; however, I found that the 300ml capacity is really just enough for one person, maybe two if you’re sharing small portions, and it doesn’t cook very evenly every time, so sometimes the rice is a little undercooked or sticks to the bottom, which was a bit frustrating; it’s easy to clean because of its small size, but the lightweight metal feels thin and I worry about denting it if I’m not careful, so I wouldn’t say it’s super durable for rough use; the price seems okay for what it is, especially for solo hikers or campers, but for heavier or more consistent use it might not be enough, so overall it’s handy and portable but has some limits, making it just an average choice for outdoor cooking.
