I read the reviews that stated the leather smelled. I found this to be true of all leather products I’ve purchased that have been recently made - they have that new leather scent. Leather products that have been “sitting” and waiting to be sold, have had a chance to “air out”. Yes, my purse did smell of leather in the beginning, but since I’ve been carrying it frequently, it no longer smells. What I like about this purse: •It looks nice. The brown color highlights the details. •It’s durable - I don’t have to handle it with “kid gloves”. I stuff it in my file cabinet at work every morning to lock it up. •It’s well made - nothing has broken on it and I use it everyday. •The adjustable strap fits comfortably on my arthritic shoulder. Of course, with any purse, if too much is stuffed in it, it becomes too heavy and uncomfortable. •I live in the city and I wear it across my body and the buckles prevent thieves from being able to get into it when I’m standing in a long line. •It’s reasonably priced. 'm in heaven! The purse I ordered myself during that Amazon days frenzy last week came today! It exceeded any expectation I had. The packaging was beautifully done and the quality of the leather and craftsmanship is outstanding. Each one made by them is a unique color, I wish my camera showed the color better. It is made by a small business and of a special untreated leather goat skin. It will develop a rich patina within a few weeks . There are so many compartments inside and the two outer pockets are functional and real. All of the hardware is quality material as well. I'm beyond thrilled with this bag. It can be worn as a crossbody or just slung over your shoulder. The dimensions are roughly 13"x10"x4". Plenty of room for holding all of my junk. This bag also had each individual piece of the hardware nicely and carefully wrapped so as not to be scratched during shipment, which I thought was extra special. Speaking of extra special, there was a lovely Thank you note and care instructions from the FIru Handmade company. I would order another bag from them in a heartbeat. Absolutely breathtaking bag that will go with a myriad of outfits and styles. Now, I may have to look and see if they offer a wallet to go along with this fabulous piece. Read more
This bag is RAD! I’m grateful that I pulled the trigger and made the purchase! I have been looking for a sweet real leather brown purse for several months. I wanted something spacious, big, not too big and easy to access. I was interested in leather as I like to purchase that I have for years. Vegan leather=plastic. I think this item is beautiful! Many access points. Instructions on leather care come with the bag. I look forward to the patina in leather as I use. -Some reviews remarked this item smells I have a keen sniffer and it’s just leather. It doesn't smell, in my opinion. -additional review talk about the clasp. Just tuck up the strap or don’t. I find it very easy. The zippers, stitching and leather are remarkable. For front pockets you do have to buckle so the unique top buckle doesn’t release. The buckles are high quality. That bag is beautiful and amazing. I love this purse! The leather has a nice warm color and will age very beautifully. Mine is stitched nicely all around, the zippers and liners are neat and flat. Zippered pockets on each side for wallets/cash/CCs, etc, two generous "file" type pockets for phone/tablet, etc, and a nice roomy middle compartment ( yes, quite big enough to "carry"). The two outer pockets buckle, not snap, so if traveling, you can put your passport and tickets in them, and no pick pocket can reach in and snatch them out. There is no way these straps would break if someone yanked the purse. When traveling, in fact- all the time- I wear my purse cross shoulders to prevent pick pockets from snatch and grabs. Some reviewers have mentioned a smell and/ or 'thin" leather. I'm wondering if people are getting two different purses or maybe from different manufacturers, or, more likely, those people have just never seen real leather, just cheap vinyl imitations. All newly tanned leather is stiff and has that leather smell until it has been "broken in" like a new pair of boots That's what I love about leather. It just gets better with age. Some people said the leather was "thin". I can't say what THEIR purses are like but there is nothing thin or unsubstantial about the purse I got. Not much has been said about the handmade journal you get as a freebie. Its not some cheap thin vinyl journal like you would see at Wallyworld. Its actually a hand tooled leather bound booklet about 2 inches thick ( 4x5, maybe?)) with several hand stitched "signatures". The value of that little book is probably as great as the purse itself. I absolutely appreciate the value of the time taken and the value of materials. Oh, the reason i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the buckles on the two front small pockets are upside down, The way they are, the little spike stands up and out from the bag and could poke someone. Also the placement of the buckle on the main strap is right in the middle which hits just at the cheek/neck area. A little awkward. But considering that the purse will probably still be around for my great grand kids, a small investment for adjustments will be well worth it. I'm glad I found this purse. I received this as a gift from my husband. It’s got lots of pockets and it’s leather but it’s also heavy and kinda big. Now in my young days that was great. At 61, I want a lighter purse. But it’s pretty to me. You gotta watch the buckle on front. Mine keeps slipping out. Read more
