This is my first fitness tracker and I think I made a great choice! I'm 47

TLMIIMarch 1, 2016

Background: This is my first fitness tracker and I think I made a great choice! I'm 47, in ok shape (not overweight, but I haven't been working out enough) and just wanted something to help motivate me to work out more regularly. I'm not an athlete or health nut. I'm just a 47 year old man with bad knees, bad ankles and aches and pains all over. I can't run anymore, so I just wanted something to track steps and get me more interested in working out. This definitely does the trick. I also paid for the FitStar app and I've actually been using that before I received the watch. I pre-ordered the Blaze and wasn't expecting it until late March, but received it a few weeks early, so that really made me happy. - Not sure about the long-term durability of the watch. It seems a bit fragile, but I've only been wearing it for two days so I may be wrong. - The charger is nice and plugs into a USB port. - Battery life. I charged it yesterday and today it was down to half the battery life. So, it's probably because I was playing with it all day (new toy!) or I didn't charge it all the way. I'm charging it now and will leave it plugged in for awhile to make sure it's charged completely, so hopefully it will last a few days before having to be charged again. - I wore it last night to track my sleep and it seemed to work great. The watch overall is light and was very comfortable. I've only taken it off to shower and to charge. - I bought a blue band as well, but I haven't switched them out yet to see how hard it is, but I did take one of the black ones off and put it back on and it was pretty easy. - It was easy to setup. I already had the FitBit app and the FitStar app and the watch synched easily and quickly. - I also have the scale (yes, I went all in!). It works and synchs great. All of the products are well made and look nice (although as mentioned above, not sure about the long-term durability of the watch). - Not missing GPS feature. As mentioned above, I can't run so I always have my phone with me. - Hopefully FitBit develops more watch face designs. I would like one that shows the date, time and heart rate at the same time. Minor complaint. Great watch. Now my wife wants one, so it looks like I'll be ordering another one! Read more

great product – if you want a watch/fitness tracker hybrid that looks like a nice smartwatch – this is a great buy

Michael S.September 16, 2016

I bought this because I used to own a Jawbone Up tracker (an early model without heart rate monitoring), and decided I wanted to try out wearing a fitness tracker again. Right off the bat I want to say that this product really, really, does work well. It does what it is supposed to do, and is totally reliable. Pros: - Well made (feels like a high quality product) - Band is comfortable and easily interchangeable with other bands (even third party like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E3MGNDI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which I highly recommend) -Heart rate monitoring is accurate within 5 BPM (I tested it against other monitors) -water RESISTANT (see cons) -Good integration with the fitbit app -Looks pretty cool for everyday usage, especially with the leather band I linked above -Great compromise between a watch and a fitness tracker if you only want to wear one thing on your wrist Cons: -Not waterproof I have not had any trouble with this point, but it is not covered for submersion in water, and it is recommended not to take it in the shower. That said, I have heard of people taking theirs in the pool, as well as showering with it without issue, but I haven't tried it because I don't want to end up with a brick and not be covered by warranty. I really wish it was just rated as waterproof because I am a swimmer and would love to have a heart rate monitor for my swim workouts, but alas.... -I find that while the app is overall pretty good, there are some things that are kind of dumb IMO. Such as the fact that you have to go on your dashboard in a web browser to log your weight. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying. BATTERY Fitbit says the battery is supposed to last 5 days on a full charge. I get low battery notifications on the third day, and since it doesn't give you a percentage I just charge it every three nights. Good news is it doesn't take long to charge – however I don't think that it would actually last 5 days. Hard to know though, because the only info you can get on the battery is if its: high, medium, or low. All in all, a great product and I like it a lot. If it's in your budget, and if you want a watch/fitness tracker hybrid that looks like a nice smartwatch – this is a great buy for you. Read more
