Bought these now 3 years ago for camping and fishing trips and after a few hundred uses have been very happy with them The durability and fit have been great. Also the convenience of the pockets. Pics are them after about 100 and then 200 camping or fishing trips. The material at the knees did eventually wear out on mine, though I'm happy with how long they held up. All the kneeling while canoe fishing, making fires, etc has put them through a lot. I used the knee pad slots (w/ the "military issue" foam inserts on amazon for $5) and they fit well and are comfortable, still easy to walk in. **Pros** (for me) -Reinforced knees and seat -Knee pad slots -Durable fabric doesn't stretch much over time -Stitches also very durable, not one has come undone -Pockets are a good number and size -Especially like the one left sided pocket that is extra deep, to really secure things like keys or a phone -Plenty of strong belt loops, 8 on my size 32 waist -Snap fasteners are stud style not riveted socket types, all still fasten equally well -Reinforced seat -No butt pocket **Cons** (for me) -Knee material eventually wore out on mine -Extra separate narrow side pocket I don't find useful -Zipper could be heavier duty or buttons, but has not failed -Ankle strap w/ multiple buttons and boot hooks not particularly useful to me -Seams are only double stitched, though again mine have not failed -Not ideal if you need them water resistant or proof, though I didn't try the wax coating method Reasons some people might not want them: for hot weather or long distance hikes since they're a little heavier and not vented. If you don't need to carry a lot in pockets or stand up to a lot of abrasion from brush, sitting, kneeling, etc. Also, eventually sunlight will fade the black color versions to dark purplish, except at the reinforced areas. If you are climbing around the pockets might not be secure enough. Overall I'm very happy with them. The knees are all that wore out and I will probably just repair them myself. Other outdoors pants I've used have worn out at the ankles, seat, and over the front pockets by this point, but there's none of those issues with these. What I like most is the buttons and pockets I use constantly, and the stitching without any breaks anywhere. It is also impressive that if you do cut holes in the fabric (like i've done cutting out fish hooks), it does not fray or unravel much with continued uses and washes. They should last 3+ more years for me, but I'll probably get another pair or two just to have. Read more

I don't normally write product reviews, but the Vidda Pro trousers are just plain awesome. Short story... I was in the market for some sort of cool cargo pant. I checked out Ralph Lauren and they had some cool waxed canvas cargo thing. G-Star has all kinds of cool cargos as well. As you can tell I'm not a hiker or outdoorsman. I'm a Brooklynite in NYC. I like cool clothes. 6ft2 I look good in my clothes. Anyway, so I'm not satisfied with G-Star, Ralph Lauren, or any of the big brands that I normally buy. Why? Cos as expensive and cool looking as they are, they wear somewhat quick, especially around the crotch. I'm tired of buying clothes all the time. So after a small search low and behold I run across this fine company Fjällräven and decided to get the Greenland Jeans. Yeah I studied them online, checked out the fit, reviews, etc. But I'm a different kind of guy then most people who buy them... my first thought is style. Second durability. Last cost. I got the Greenland Jeans and wow! They''re like Ralph Lauren, G-Star and anyone else, but just tough. I love the fit. And I actually wear them in more business casual situations, with a blazer and stuff. Then I thought, what about these Vidda Pro trousers I was eyeing? Got 'em and haven't looked back. These things are like a cross between cargo/chino, moto trousers, and outdoor toughguy trousers. The fit is just perfect. It's slightly baggier than the Greenland Jeans, but very proportional with all the pockets helping out. The bonus is the adjustable bottom ankle cuff. I where them a lot with cool loafers, slightly tapered in. Then I can wear them with danner boots and the cuff all the way open. And guys... the ladies LOVE THEM!! Seriously the girls check 'em out and the guys are always wondering where these cool pants come from. So in a nutshell... just get the pants. Very light weight and stylish to the height of being stylish. I can tell that I'll have these and the Greenland Jeans for a super duper long time. Boom! Read more

I purchased the Vidda Pro trousers in anticipation of a future trip to the Faroe Islands/Iceland/Greenland. I was looking for hard-wearing, windproof, waterproof pants. I am 5-11' 185 pounds with a 34" inseam. The 52 EUR Regular fit perfectly. I have tried them out in wet weather. As described in the ad, the pants are water repellent but not waterproof. Water will bead up on the surface but it will sink through when kneeling in wet foliage. I have not yet tried to add wax as these pants are old-school wax cloths. The wax should help make them more water repellent. I have not yet had an opportunity to hike in them. They seem stiff out of the box. They loosened up a bit after I wore them to work a couple of times. I think they could bind on the knees and lower legs in warm or hot weather, but that is just my guess at this point. The pants do not have rear pockets. I miss that feature, but the front pockets are large and can hold a lot of stuff. There is also an option to purchase knee pads that can be inserted in between the double layer of fabric over the knees. At least that is my understanding. I am in interested in this feature as I intend to be spending a lot of time on my trip photographing wildlife. Overall, I am very pleased with these pants. I look forward to putting them to the real test on my future trip. Read more
