Wow! These boots are super stylish AND uber comfortable! I was pleasantly surprised by how cozy the soles were. I was worried they'd be too hard/firm or be completely flat, but they seem to have a bit of light arch support and a slight bit of cushion in the sole. The faux leather is soft and supple, and they're not stiff at all like some faux leather or pleather is. The calf fit loosely, which was nice because I was worried it'd be too tight, but the fit around the calf and height of the boots are perfect on me, a leggy, short torso, 5' 7", 195 pound, plus size body! I do think they run a bit big, and it feels like I have about an extra inch in the toe box, but I'm hoping that maybe with thick wool socks and maybe a thin insole they'll fit a bit better. I would recommend sizing down half a size, unless you like a loose fitting boot. The tread is nice and will provide traction in almost all weather scenarios. I do worry they may be slippery in icy conditions, because there is a bit of a shine to the outsole material, but I won't know for a couple more months. I love these boots and my 23 year old child said they were going to borrow them from me! They are a big hit in my house! :) I think the price is right for what you're getting, too and these are nice quality, comfortable, semi supportive boots.
