I bought two of these for my husband's shoes and have used them on about 6 pairs since I received them 3 months ago. One of my best investments, as they make a huge difference for my husband between pain and comfort in all types of shoes - leather dress shoes to athletic shoes. The wood is beautiful and smooth - they slide easily into the shoes. The inserts for bunions and such are sturdy metal. I use a mixture of 70% Isoprophyl Alcohol & water with a cotton ball instead of buying a spray bottle. Works well to relax the leather/fabric before inserting the FootFitters. I just discovered a split on one of the FootFitters today and received an apologetic email from the company less than 2 1/2 hours after I emailed them, saying they are sending out a replacement (this this review). Quality product and quality customer service. It's evident they're proud of their products and want customers to be happy. I sure am! Support these folks! They're the real deal! That's hard to find these days. Read more

I have only had this a couple of weeks. Have done one shoe of a pair and so far, it helps - no miracles, but it helped. I chose this one because it has multiple holes for the buttons that stretch out small sections for bunions. (Who knew those little bony protrusions on my foot were bunions???) This is important b/c it gives you plenty of choices so that you can stretch where you really need it. Also, when I first ordered this, Amazon suggested buying some sort of stretcher spray. I did not. Should have. Just bought it directly from the mfg. along with an extra set of buttons, just in case I lose one. At any rate, I have not had any problems with parts breaking as some people reported. It feels solidly built. I think this is making a difference in shoes that are too tight across the toe box and those bunions. NOTE: This does not stretch length - only width across toe box and up to the arch of the shoe. Mfg does sell one that will also stretch length. Also note - you only get one stretcher, so you have to do one shoe at a time. Since it takes 24-48 hours to stretch them, this is not appropriate for shoes you want to wear tomorrow! Read more

This shoe stretcher is a little more than the others but I ordered most of the ones listed and found it to be the best. It is very well constructed with smooth well-finished and sealed wood. The moving parts are heavy steel moving parts which move easily and don't give you a problem when you are expending or lengthening the stretcher. There is no comparison to one set I bought that gave you two stretchers but the wood part was unfinished and had such rough surface that pieces of it fell off and I almost got a huge splinter. This is first quality all the way. works extremely well and well worth the extra dollars. Read more

After owning one of these for a year, I purchased a second so that I could stretch two shoes at once. They work relatively well and are easy to use, but are more expensive than I would anticipate this product being. I will say that their customer service is very good. When my second stretcher came without the metal stretching plugs, the company immediately FEDEXed me the missing pieces. The fact that they are wood also gives you the option of drilling an additional hole for one of the stretching plugs, if you need to place one is a particularly specific location. Read more

This shoe stretcher arrived on time and is very well made. Solid wood construction, metal plate screwed into the back to hold both wood sides together, the screw rod is made of metal and very solid, the black plastic handle is sturdy and strong. I've read comments where the plastic handle broke in using and I'll address them. I used a friends shoe stretcher that was made for women's shoes, it has 2 small button/oblong ends and a screw spinner in the middle to expand the ends, very difficult to use and after 3 weeks with very little change I decided to get this. I used this for a week with the plastic bunion attachments and that didn't work, pulled out the plastic attachments and used it just as is, left shoes took 3-4 days, the right which is the problem side took approx 1 week. How to use, wet the area to be stretched, I used water, wet my hands and rubbed inside where it needed to be stretched, did that several times to get the insides damp (alcohol works as well, in fact most of those shoe stretching liquids are just alcohol and water). Insert shoe stretcher, tie shoe laces as tight as you can (only if you have laces), crank that rod until just tight then give it another 1/2 to 3/4 turn and leave it, crank it another 1/4 to 3/4 turn again the next day, etc. This is how to do it without breaking your shoe stretcher, it's meant to do it over time not all at once. Also every 2-4 days I would take it out and wet the area again and repeat the process until your shoes are comfortable. Product was Mens Small (5.5 to 8.5), my shoe size is 7.5 EEEE. I have very wide feet, and since many shoe mfg are cutting out 4E shoes I have to find higher priced leather shoes which now seems to have 2E as the widest. This product looks and handles like it will last years maybe decades if used properly. Also btw, I've since lost the 3 bunion buttons, you might want to find a spot or bag to put them in and slip it in the middle of the split, then close it to hold it and keep all together. BTW last thought, if you use this product on non-leather shoes then YMMV. Read more
