First, as an inverter, this device works fine. As well as you can expect any small inverter to work, and currently at a very good price. The odd thing about this device is that, to do anything with it, you must turn on one power switch. And that power switch turns on everything, including the inverter. Want USB? You must turn on the inverter too. Simply want a light? The inverter must also be on and draining power. So if you want just a light or just USB you might look for another product. On the other hand, this means the inverter will power very low drain sources without turning off, a problem I've had with a dedicated battery-inverter. One odd thing, I tried powering my TV and USB speakers with this device simultaneously, and the inverter produced noise on the USB ports (I tried both) that came through the speakers. I don't expect this to affect many products, but it's good to be aware of the issue. Read more

Another reviewer mentioned he bought and returned two of these units that both failed to produce 120 volt power. However he mentioned he had bought one previously that did work right. I thought I would give it a try hoping the issues he had were temporary. I put it on a fully-charged 6 amp-hour Ryobi battery. Unit powered on properly and light and USB outlets worked. I didn't test the USB voltage. Used my multimeter to test the AC voltage after confirming it was working right with one of my home outlets (120 volts on my home outlet). This device only put out 85 volts. That's a far cry from the claimed 120 volts. Further, lower voltage than 110 will cause damage and premature failure of many electric devices. I was just wanting this to run some lights at my off-grid cabin but they would certainly suffer a shortened lifespan from this device if they even worked at all. Amazon needs to remove this device from their website. I was hopeful it would work since the Ryobi model is $99 and this one was under $40. I'm disappointed for sure. Read more

I bought a product that was identical to this one in August under a different brand name. I was pleased that I could purchase an inverter roughly half the price that Ryobi was selling it for. When I purchased a second one, I noticed the small 9W motor it was powering sounded weak. At first I thought my equipment had gone bad. But then I measured the voltage with multimeter and showed that it was putting out only 90 VAC. Lower than nominal voltage can actually damage equipment (think utility "brown out" or erroneously trying to slow down a ceiling fan motor with a light dimmer.) Fortunately, I disconnected the device and there was no damage. I returned the product and ordered this one from Amazon. This looked identical but sold under a different name brand/company. What was shipped looked identical to my first two models. It would appear that the same manufacturer is selling this product under two different names. This one measured at 84 VAC, so I sent it back for a refund, as I did not have patience to wait for replacement for a third time. I gave it two stars because the first one did work and if you're willing to take the time and test it with a meter before using it, you may get lucky and get a good working product.
