I was so excited by the price and the rainbow of colors in this 12-pack that I immediately held a Viking funeral for a few of my old, trusty black durags. Unfortunately, I may have jumped the gun, because these just don't measure up—literally. While the value seems great on the surface, the fit and function are a real letdown. The Sizing and Coverage Issue: My main issue is the size. The product photos give the impression that these are generously sized with a lot of material. In reality, they are much smaller than expected. I have a decent height afro, and this durag barely provides enough coverage. I'm left with exposed corners and am constantly tucking and adjusting the sides to keep my hair contained, which is a hassle. The Deal-Breaker: The Tails Aren't Long Enough The most critical flaw is in the product's name itself: the "Long Tail" is anything but. I sleep on my back, so I need to wrap the tails around my head twice to tie a secure knot on the *side* (to avoid that annoying lump on the back of my head). That is completely impossible with these. The tails are so short that they can barely be tied in a standard knot at the back. This leads to the final problem: it just doesn't stay on. Any attempt to twist the durag for a side knot results in it slipping off during the night or the weak knot coming undone, completely defeating the purpose of wearing it to bed. Final Verdict: While the color variety is nice and the price is tempting, the fundamental design is flawed for anyone with a good amount of hair or who needs to tie their durag in a specific way. If you have very short, low-cut hair, these might work for you. However, if you need full coverage and functional, genuinely long tails, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. I was shocked to see that these durags were perfect. Not too thick and not too thin. As a course hair waver, they actually hold in moisture and left my hair shiny and silky. Perfect fit and the straps are superb. The wave caps I use for added compression, and it's exactly what a waver should want. Definitely a great buy. All of my overly expensive durags are now in the trash. Read more
