the pleats in this one aren't as even as in the original that came with the fridge, so I wonder if I shouldn't have gotten the knockoff. in the fridge I had looked in advance of looking on line and I thought it was the same charcoal color on both sides but it actually was lighter on one side than the other. but on the flip side, this really works. I had something I forgot in the fridge I mean it didn't get horrendous or anything, but there was no odor. I found it by eye instead of scent. kudos to Frigidaire for that!! & buying OEM from an approved vendor definitely takes the unknown out of the situation. if I didn't find it on a rare level of sale around a holiday, I would have not loved buying the OEM. there is a combo of the filter for the water and this that is a similar price in this general time frame as I'm writing the review as the sale of the parts separately. I'm not sure how I feel about Frigidaire's claim that you can cause a leak (aka flood) by not changing out your water filter every 6 months. I would think it would just clog up versus burst so I feel like they're playing with us to make a spend more money by going by time instead of gallons. I'm writing this while I'm here because the two units go to the same fridge and I supported a local place since they were willing to price match on the other half of this otherwise available as package. but it is important that you can buy them individually because if you accidentally have something get nasty, I would be inclined to replace the charcoal filter early.
