Funny enough, the box and manual labels this as a "Baby Newt," so I'm glad that the listing more accurately calls it an axolotl so that it can be properly found by those that will appreciate its greatness. This little lamp is adorable, from the friendly and mildly derpy expression to the giant round head. And the tiny fish it's holding? Just too cute! The lamp is essentially made up of a conical LED enclosure, and the axolotl is a "sleeve" that fits on top of it. On its underside is a three way toggle switch. Center is off, and right is on. Left is a 30 minute timer that will function the same as the right toggle, but will shut off no matter what after 30 minutes and will not turn on until the toggle switch is reset. The right toggle turns the lamp on at its lowest setting and enables touch controls. You can tap the lamp two more times for incrementally brighter light, and a third tap will turn the light off. Note that the light is a single, static white color only. The axolotl does, however, act as both a diffuser and filter for the light, softening the brightness and adding a pinkish tint. The silicone of the axolotl is has a very smooth and soft feeling to it. I've found kids like just petting and rubbing it. The silicone seems relatively stain resistant and can be wiped down and sanitized easily (just be cautious of the exposed USB port). To help prevent lint and hair sticking to it, it may be beneficial to give it a dusting of baby powder or corn starch. Battery life seems pretty good so far. It takes few hours to charge, and using the 30 minute timer on the lowest brightness each night, it seems to last maybe two weeks before needing a recharge. It's nice that it has a USB C port so it's not hard to find a cable, but no charging brick is included so you'll have to either hook it up to your computer's USB port or use some other device's charging brick. Overall, it's a great lamp design that's a hit with the kids and functions well as a nightlight. Read more

I got this for me as an adult because I love cute things and lights! This light brings me a lot of joy when I'm doing work on my laptop at night, I like to have it on the lowest setting next to me (anything brighter hurts my eyes too close at night). I feel like I have a cute light up buddy next to me (totally do)! The light is inside center of a squishy silicone character and gives off cool light temperature. You tap on its head or squeeze its body to change between 3 brightness settings, low, medium, and high. The last tap will turn it off. The battery can last forever and ever on low setting where I use it the most. I honestly have used it for a good 1-2 hours about every other day for about 2 weeks and haven't needed to charge it yet. Battery light varies depending on what brightness setting you have it at. At 1200 mAh, it will probably last about 8-10 hours nonstop on full brightness. I love that it is USB-C rechargeable and that makes it easy to charge it just about anywhere. I have tested the 30 minute feature and that works well. I love using it as a timer for work as well. Turn it on for 30 minutes and when it turns off, switch tasks! When the light isn't being used, I feel the pink axolotl design is quite universal and looks good anywhere, adult bedroom, kid's bedroom, living room, office, car, etc. I think it's a good size for travel, too, if you wanted to take it places, it is very lightweight. The one tiny thing I didn't like about the item is that because of its silicone material, it gets dirty easily. It attracts dust, crumbs, and cat hair....basically anything it comes into contact with. This can't be helped because otherwise, it wouldn't be the squishy cuteness it is. To clean it, you'd just wipe it down with a damp lint-free cloth as it is not waterproof (the USB-C port is exposed). Would not take off a star for this as it isn't a big deal and doesn't affect functionality. I do recommend this light. Get it for yourself or as a cute gift! Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is absolutely adorable. It’s incredibly soft and gives off the most beautifully diffused light. It works perfectly as a nightlight or mood light, has the most odorable Axolotl face, and you definitely don’t have to be a kid to enjoy something this cute. The material is a squishy, soft silicone that feels really nice to the touch and it's super lightweight. The light has three brightness settings, and you can change them by tapping or gently squeezing the axolotl. I cannot overstate how much joy this brings me. Patting him on the head to change the brightness makes me ridiculously happy every single time. There’s a toggle switch underneath with three settings: on, off, and a 30-minute timer. I use the 30-minute setting most nights when I’m getting ready for bed and my husband is already asleep. It provides just enough light to keep me from tripping over black cats on the floor without being bright enough to disturb his sleep. This little guy makes me smile every time I look at him. He’s such a cheerful, comforting addition to my nightstand. I’m also really impressed with the quality. The design is well done, with a crisp, clear face and no sloppy details. The silicone is smooth and evenly colored with no bumps, flaws, or discoloration. I charged him for about three hours with the included USB-C cable when I first got him. After that, I used him daily, at least for the 30-minute timer and sometimes for over an hour at a time, and I didn’t need to recharge him again for more than two weeks. The battery life is excellent. This was such a great find. If you love axolotls or just need a little extra brightness and cuteness in your life, I highly recommend this. It’s charming, well made, and genuinely delightful to use. Read more
