Customers find the window film easy to install, use, and appreciate its effectiveness in keeping drafty houses warm, raising room temperatures by 3-5 degrees.

I was skeptical at first, but this worked far better than I expected. I installed the first one on the window above my garage, and once the plastic was fully sealed, I could actually see it bulging slightly from blocking the cold air. A few hours later, the room felt about 10° warmer than it normally does. The plastic is clear and still allows plenty of light to come through, which is great. The only downside for my setup is that my blinds are mounted inside the window frame, so I can’t open them without removing the plastic. That’s not a fault of the product, just something to be aware of depending on your window setup. Overall, this was an easy install and made a noticeable difference in warmth. I’d definitely recommend it. Read more

Overall does stop drafts from windows. Can install alone, just tape edges as you apply sides. Easier with a second person. Tips- Gravity will pull the tape down, so for the top of the window, put higher so the tape doesn’t slide off the trim. Reinforce with painter’s tape around the edges. Unfortunately some of my window tape stopped sticking all together. The wrap still works if you tape the sides down. Not sure if it was the below 0F temp or sunlight that caused the window tape to lose stick. Apply BEFORE the cold weather sets in. Read more
Weren’t sure about this as it wasn’t a brand I would normally get, but we no longer feel cold air coming in through our windows, I would get again for sure! Easy to put up, quality is great, value, functionality all great! Read more
Prefect to seal cold out. Ease of use and clarity can see through window. Works well for window since it precut size. Smooth texture, keep heat well. Look great from outside. Read more
Plastic is flimsy, tears easily. Tape isn’t the greatest - not very secure on wood window sills (in an older home). However, the precut sheets are so easy to work with, to stretch across the windows. Not so great keeping out the cold - I wish the plastic was thicker. First time user, not sure we’d purchase again for next winter. Read more
I think this is a great product to use if your windows are older and don't seal as well as they should. Living where it dips to (-) temps. This gives a better more protection against the cold wind. Easy to install, shrinks up well, and you can still get light through it, which is a plus for me. Read more
The Bottom Line The Frost King shrink‑film kit does what it promises – it seals a drafty window and cuts down on the occasional chill. It’s not a game‑changing, “wow‑factor” product, but it does the job well enough to earn a solid four‑star rating from me. If you’re looking for a modest improvement without breaking the bank, this kit is a decent choice. What I Expected I went into this purchase with a fairly neutral mindset. I wasn’t expecting a miracle, but I did hope for an easy‑to‑install, reliable way to add an extra layer of insulation to my older single‑pane windows. In the Frost King world, a five‑star product would need to either be a revolutionary design or dramatically exceed those expectations – something that makes the installation process feel effortless and the performance noticeably better than the baseline. What Actually Happened Aspect My Experience Packaging & Contents The kit arrives in a compact box with clear instructions, a roll of 2 m² clear shrink film, a plastic tap (the “seal strip”), a heat‑gun, and a few small tools. Everything matches the product description – no surprises. Installation – Cutting the Film This is where the pain points started. The film is thin and slippery, so getting a clean, correctly‑sized piece is tricky. I first tried cutting with a brand‑new pair of scissors (sharp, but still not ideal). The scissors tended to snag the film, leaving ragged edges. Switching to a straight razor (like a utility blade) gave a much cleaner cut and saved a lot of frustration. Adhesion of the Tap The plastic tap is supposed to stick to both the window frame and the film, sealing the edges. In my trial, the adhesive was a bit finicky – it didn’t grab instantly on either surface. I had to press firmly and hold for a minute or two, and even then a few spots needed a little extra pressure. After the heat‑gun shrank the film, the tap held better, but the initial stickiness felt under‑whelming. Heat‑Gun Shrink Process Once the film was cut and the tap in place, the heat‑gun does its magic. The film contracts evenly and clings tightly to the glass. This part worked as described, and the resulting seal was clear and virtually invisible. Performance After Installation The “difference” is subtle but noticeable. The room stays warmer on cold days, and the draft around the window is reduced. However, the improvement isn’t dramatic – it’s more of a gentle boost than a complete transformation. Overall Effort vs. Reward The installation takes a bit of patience (especially the cutting and tap adhesion), but once it’s done, the result is steady and reliable. The effort is justified if you want a low‑cost way to add a little extra insulation. Pros Effective Draft Reduction – Even a modest seal can make a noticeable difference in a chilly room. Clear Film – Because it’s transparent, it doesn’t alter the view or aesthetics of the window. Inexpensive – Compared to replacing windows or buying thicker insulated panels, this kit is budget‑friendly. Compact Storage – The roll and accessories take up minimal space, easy to keep for future windows. Cons Cutting Can Be Tricky – Scissors often don’t cut cleanly; a straight razor or utility blade is practically required. Tap Adhesive Needs Extra Pressure – The strip doesn’t bond instantly to glass or frame; you may need to hold it longer than the instructions suggest. No “Wow” Factor – The performance boost is modest; you won’t feel like you’ve installed a high‑tech, revolutionary product. Heat‑Gun Required – If you don’t already own one, you’ll need to purchase or borrow it, adding a small extra cost. Who Might Like This DIY‑ers on a budget who want a quick, inexpensive way to improve window insulation. Renters who need a temporary solution that can be removed without damaging the frame. Homeowners with a few problematic windows rather than a whole house that needs a full retrofit. Who Might Skip It Anyone expecting a dramatic, overnight transformation in comfort or energy bills. Those who dislike fiddling with cutting tools or dealing with adhesive quirks. People who already have high‑performance double‑ or triple‑pane windows; the marginal gain here would be negligible. Final Verdict Frost King’s V85/2M shrink‑film kit delivers on its core promise: a clear, extra layer of insulation that reduces drafts. Installation isn’t plug‑and‑play; you’ll need a straight razor for clean cuts and a bit of patience to get the tap to stick. After the initial hassle, the result is a modest but tangible improvement in comfort. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s reliably functional, and for the price it’s a worthwhile upgrade. Bottom line: I’m giving it a four‑star rating—mostly because it does what it says, makes a slight difference, and doesn’t break the bank, even though the experience falls short of being a “must‑have” product. If you’re looking for a quick, budget‑friendly seal, give it a try; just be prepared for a little extra effort in the cutting stage. Read more
