These are the first pair of western boots I have ever purchased. I was a bit skeptical thinking maybe the boot would feel too stiff and uncomfortable. I was totally wrong! I normally wear 7.5 in all shoes, including Ariat & Dingo boots. I ordered 7.5 in these, Stone Wash Black. First time on, was very difficult to get onto my feet, but once they were on, they fit perfectly. The first time taking them off, was much easier than putting them on. I took them on and off repeatedly, each time getting them on was easier. I absolutely love the look and fit of these boots. They are low profile, the shaft does not stick out at all under jeans or other pants - perfect. I have initially worn them with merino wool socks, med thickness. The toe bed is not tight at all, and the slippage in the heel is exactly right. The smell is amazing, and the distressed portion looks authentic, not "dipped in another color" for efffect. True too size, maybe a bit narrow for some. Love the color and styling on this boot. Cute with a summer dress, shorts or jeans. One of my favs for almost any occasion. No arch support, and you will definitely need to buy comfort inserts or in the least heel cushions. Once I did that, I could wear them for days! The leather feels soft and, slightly broken in. Be kind to your pets, they love you unconditionally and trust you to take care of them. Dogs are very social creatures and your love. Walk them every day for 15 min. I loved the design of this boot & the fashion look. But, it was very narrow on the top & very difficult to put on. It also was very stiff with the sole, & would take a lot of breaking in to be comfortable. I tried it in 2 sizes, & it was still a tight put-on with each size. Lovely look, after it was on! I ordered a 9.5 in these (I am a tightish 9 - comfortable 9.5 US/UK 7/Euro 40, my foot measures 25cm) and went larger because of the pointed toe. I was actually worried they'd be too big as my Carson Shortie's are a 9 and are at LEAST a half size too big, they fit me like a loose 9.5-10. These were almost impossible to get on but with thin socks it eventually happened and was easier after that. But my toes are a couple cm's from the end and my heel is touching the back. When I compared both shoe styles it turns out they measure exactly the same from heel to toe which is extremely inconsistent sizing for a similar style boot from the same company! My advice is go half a size larger in these and a full size smaller in the Carson's and you should be ok. The color is a dusty/dusky brown not grey or charcoal at all but does go with most things. The boots are gorgeous and well made and my whole room smells like leather! Shipping was unbelievably fast. These boots are awesome! I bought them in the dark brown distressed leather and the color is true to the photo and beautiful. However the toe is more worn out looking than pictured. After reading the reviews I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get my foot in them since I got my usual size 10. I had purchased a pair of their harness boots about 8 years ago but wore them only a few times because it was almost impossible to get them on. Not so with the Billy Short. They went on relatively easily with only a little tug and fit great. If I had ordered a size up they would have been way too big. I have a narrow foot so that probably helped. Higjhly recommend this boot! Cannot go wrong with Frye. Although expensive. They are worth every penny. Read more

These are not my first pair of Frye boots so I have high expectations and these are better then what appeared on-line. The distressing on the leather is just right. The leather is at the perfect 'broken-in' stage; I've had Frye's before where the leather was stiff and it took a wearing them a few times for them to be very comfortable. I was afraid that the boots would not look western enough without the stitching on the toe but happily I was wrong. The toe is not pointy but is not as rounded as it appears in the pictures. I bought my standard size 8 Frye boot and they fit great. My foot is narrow so I might of been able to wear a 7.5 but I like to wear sock with my boots. That being said these are very comfortable to wear without any sock. Read more
