These are some great boots. The color is a nice subtle mix of charcoal and brown and everything in between. The surface is matt not shiny. The stitching seems just right as well, not too heavy nor too thin. The stacked heel is comfortable. Exactly what I wanted. I have a narrow foot and take an 8 1/2 in running shoes, I ordered a 9 so my toes wouldn't be scrunched by the narrow tip of the boot. Possibly I should have ordered an 8 1/2 because they are M, but I put in some shoe liners and they fit perfectly, my toes had enough room. I highly recommend these boots for their looks and because they were comfortable the first time I wore them. Read more

Love Frye boots. These Frye boots are great. I love the color. Looks worn not so new which is great. They fit good. I got some Dan Post boot socks to wear with them which makes them more comfortable. Cowgirl boots need to be broken in to be comfortable which is expected. I ordered my usual size and the fit was just right. Since their is not a zipper like all my other Frye boots I got some pull on things at the western store that hook into the tabs on the side of the boot to pull the boot on. WOW how easy. The price is AMAZING. I saw the same boot at the mall for more than twice the price. This is my 4th pair of Frye boots. The Frye company has been around for so long and the quality is always perfect. I wear a 7.5 in all of my shoes, never had an issue. The shaft of this boot is so tiny, that I cannot even fit my foot in it. There is no way that this is a 7.5. I think it might be a size 5. The boots are cute, but I sadly have to return them. Read more

These are my favorite pair of boots - and I have quite a few. Frye boots are of course beautifully made but this style is amazing. I live in CT, grew up in NH and so I am certainly no cowgirl. When I started looking for cowboy boots I was shocked at the many styles (cowboy AND western) from which to choose. It took me SEVEN tries on Amazon to get it right. These are stylish without trying too hard, great with jeans and mini skirts, and the leather is soft and stitching subtle (man, can the stitching get gaudy quickly on cowbot boots). WIsh the heel was a little higher but oh well. Read more

These are truly lovely boots. Kind of a very dark green croc effect..beautiful. I was so disappointed to find they were far too tight at my calf. My leg could barely fit the narrow shaft. Sadly I had to return them.. Read more

i have several pairs of frye boots and i love them all--these beauties are no exception. so happy i came across these at a BARGAIN price!! i think these were some sort of return which is why they were so cheap but the soles were in perfect condition so they can't have been worn. they came in a generic brown cardboard boot box with no logo and the frye tag was a little torn and loose in the box. i bought these in a 9.5 which fits me perfectly and is the same size i get in all western style boots across different brands. i wear a size ten (EU 41) in everything else (tennis shoes, sandals, heels, clogs, etc) including a few pair of non-western frye boots. i wore these the entire weekend after i got them with thick socks to help loosen the leather. they were a little tough to get off the first few times and i needed to use a boot jack but now they go on and off with a normal, healthy tug. after a long weekend with lots of walking, i had no blisters or sore spots, as expected. these boots are for living in! i would consider the black vintage calf shine to be a dark graphite grey. they are a bit shiny with a high polish and the tips of the boots sort of remind me of a sharpened pencil. the leather has an already broken in sort of look to it (which i love) and there are areas of lighter grey that kind of pop out. i noticed a few imperfections in the leather that add to this look. the stitching is dark grey and decorative. the heel and sides of the sole are a dark brown and the sole is of course leather that wears to a tan color after a short walk on pavement. pretty sure i can wear these with just about everything and plan on doing just that. i probably wouldn't have paid full price for these (hard to justify when i have a closet full of shoes...mostly boots) but i would love them even if i had. if you're looking for a sturdy, comfortable, versatile boot consider these and expect a lot of compliments! When I first got these boots as a Christmas Gift via Amazon I tried to give them away, don't tell the mother-in-law. Fortunately, no one wanted them because they were too tight. That spring I remembered that years ago my sister when she was in the Army said " it's better to purchase a leather boot tight so that they will stretch to fit you perfectly vs. too big and they become floppy". With that piece of advice I went through the suffering to get them so now they fit like a glove! (Hint: wear them wet and it speeds up the stretching) I can't live a day without them now except I have worn them so regularly that the leather bottoms after 3 or so years are completely worn out. So here I am purchasing my next pair and yes I will have to do the stretching again but it's worth it. My size, on a good day is a 7 1/2 on a day when my feet swell (basically always) 8. I have feet and calf's that are better suited for the Flintstones vs. any cat walk or foot commercial. I wear an 8 in this boot. The heal and across the top of the foot are snug, however you want that and yes it's hard to squeeze in there at first, but once they stretch it keeps your foot from riding up and down causing blisters on the heel. One additional note: these are leather bottoms so they will be slick. I attached pictures of the new boots next to the old boots so you can see how they break in. Pic 1 new boot left shaft is more narrow Pic 2 new boot left shaft appears taller than worn in boot but it's not, old boot now slouches Pic 3 new boot left is more narrow Pic 4 old boot left and yes I wore them A BUNCH Pic 5 old boot is stretched and slouches Pic 6 old boot is stretched and slouches Read more
