I've always been drawn to the simplicity and natural feel of Japanese design, and this FULI Tatami Mat has brought a wonderful sense of calm and unique comfort to our home. From the moment I unrolled it, the distinct, pleasant scent of the Igusa rush grass was noticeable – it's a very natural, earthy aroma that I find incredibly relaxing. The craftsmanship is evident; it feels well-made and authentic. I've been using it as a topper on our guest futon, and also sometimes just lay it out in the living room for a quiet place to read or for my kid to play on. It provides a firm yet comfortable surface that's surprisingly supportive. My wife, who sometimes struggles with back discomfort on overly soft surfaces, has found it particularly nice for short periods of relaxation. It’s also quite breathable, which is a bonus. While it's a different kind of comfort than a plush mattress, it’s exactly what I was hoping for – a connection to a more traditional way of resting and a beautifully made piece that adds a touch of tranquility to our space. We are thoroughly pleased with this Tatami mat. Read more

This is pretty cool to try out. If you want a refreshing sleeping experience that feels natural and earthy, it's worth considering. I like the smell and feel of the mat. I didn't think it would be good for sweat but I haven't noticed any odors. You do need to be careful of hunidity and mold, which is the exact weather we're having now. The quality and craftmanship seem to be very high. Read more

I very much enjoyed this tatami mat! I've never had anything like it, but I definitely wish I had it sooner since it adds a great and unique experience to my sleep! You get the tatami mat packaged nicely and securely in a simple but durable box. I found it especially thoughtful that the package comes with a cute hand folded origami crane, which adds to the handmade feel and traditional quality of this product. The tatami mat also includes a simple handling guide to help you get started with using this tatami mat. It unfolds fairly easily to three distinct areas connected together by a durably stitched fabric. It lays quite nicely on top of a mattress, or the floor if you so desire, and offers a unique texture and comfort that other products cannot provide. The rush grass is surprisingly soft and smooth, which is a uniquely comfortable texture that is airy and breathable and has a distinct grassy aroma that is surprisingly relaxing. It is eco-friendly and works well to keep the bedding fresh with its natural deodorizing and moisture absorbing qualities. As nice as it was, I did think it had a lot of issues that are worth mentioning, especially in consideration of its fairly hefty price tag. As a natural handmade product, I did expect some areas that would reflect that, but I didn't particularly like seeing several areas where the rush grass' ends were sticking out, catching fabric or causing irritating feelings as it scratches against my skin. Additionally, I felt that the tethers on the corners were a bit lacking since often times, they would slip off of my mattress or otherwise not catch on the corners. Perhaps most concerning for me is the awkward length, as I was expecting it to reach both ends of my full-sized mattress, but only realized after it arrived that it is missing several inches from it's length. While none of these are particularly big deal breakers, I did find them problematic since I was expecting a nearly flawless product for the considerably high price tag. Overall, I very much still do enjoy this tatami mattress pad. It offers a unique experience that I think really helps immerse you into a more pleasant sleep experience. If you can overlook the hefty price tag and the concerning issues with its quality, then you might enjoy it. Read more
