I’ve used liquid witch hazel for years as a daily facial cleanser, on insect bites, poison ivy rashes, and to clean my dog’s floppy ears. I love witch hazel, including the smell. I did not know a witch hazel lotion existed until I saw this on Amazon so I decided to try it. As a moisturizer, this lotion seems to be as effective as some of the name brands I use. If it was unscented or smelled like liquid witch hazel, I would give it 5 stars. Unfortunately the terrible scent of this lotion is so overpowering that I doubt I will keep using it regularly. As an example, I applied the lotion at bedtime to my arms and legs after being out in the sun during the day. I washed my hands with soap and water afterward before going to bed. Upon getting up about 8 hours later, I could still smell it on my hands and the smell was still quite strong and unpleasant. I am not sure why the makers of this lotion had to put so much fragrance into it, as well as the color additives. It’s unfortunate because like I said, as a moisturizer it is quite effective. I certainly would not use this lotion before going out in public though because of how offensive the scent is. Read more

This is the lotion my grandmother used. There is nothing particularly "modern" about it. Basic lanolin base with witch hazel added. A bit thinner consistancy than most newer lotions. The witch hazel gives it a nice cooling feel. Leaves the skin dry. The perfume smell is flowery and very old fashion. It dissapates quickly so its not a problem. I like it. Read more
