I'm being very careful with my language here bc the last time I reviewed something (diaper paste!) with "the b word" in it it was rejected. I think this mug should be able to be reviewed so others can learn how nice it is! Ok I really expected this to be mediocre quality at best, but I'm honestly surprised, very pleasantly surprised. I don't know how machine made pottery is done when it's oddly shaped such as these but it's done well. The glazing is very smooth with no missing areas, including the inside (although a couple of tiny air bubble blemishes in the finish, you can see in one photo). The inside also is not SO "contoured" where the handle attaches that it renders it useless for drinks - I'm not afraid to use this for coffee because I can wash the entire inside by hand and rest assured I've gotten every aspect of the surface clean, with the help of a bottle brush of course. I don't think there will be any yucky stuff stuck, but YMMV I suppose. The white ring on the bottom (huh huh) where it's supposed to be a bit rough and unglazed is also surprisingly smooth so no worries about it scuffing your table or desk either. The color and curvy cheeks are so playful. Honestly I think I'd rather use it to hold my favorite brushes at my desk or hair accessories on my vanity just so it's more of a display item I can see, as my style is very much quirky-maximalist-barely appropriate-xillennial who won't "grow up". Like of course I want a cute round juicy backside on my desk holding some favorite art supplies or mini butterfly clips! It very comfortably holds 8 ounces and can even hold 10 ounces without spilling; I've taken photos of it filled with both amounts of water. Based on the curvature of each side, if you were drinking directly from this without a straw you'd have to drink from the, um, front side, to ensure you got the last sip. Otherwise some will just stay in one cheek unless you tipped it literally upside down to finish your drink. One thing I don't see on this mug is any info on the bottom (all pun) saying whether it's microwave and dishwasher safe. I am the dishwasher so that's fine but since I don't want to test this in the microwave that does mean I actually don't want to use this for coffee as I don't want to risk reheating it and cracking it.
