Absolutely beautiful
I was highly skeptical of "washable" rugs, if they can fit in a washing machine how can they be substantial enough to lie flat on the floor without crumpling up? I got that question answered today -- the 9x12 rug I got is way too big to fit in my washer and too heavy for me to drag it to a laundromat with a commercial size machine. Even a smaller size would be too heavy for my machine to spin it. So it's not machine washable but that's great news as far as I'm concerned. For under $75 I expected a piece of printed fabric with some rubber dots on the back, what I got is a beautiful, heavy carpet that feels wonderfully smooth and soft and looks like I spent $600. I put it over my existing rug and it lies flat without rucking up; if it were directly on the wood floor it might slide, but any rug would. I pulled on parts of it very hard trying to straighten it out while the furniture was on it, not a recommended tactic but the rug didn't stretch at all so I feel optimistic about its durability. It came folded in a box that I didn't open for a couple of weeks, when I finally did so I had my steamer out ready to work on the creases and there weren't any. None. It smoothed out perfectly straight out of the box. I'm almost giddy about this rug, it's so pretty, it makes the room look bigger (the old rug is 8x10), it's not busy but has lots of colors I can match to curtains and cushions, and best of all it softens the dark blue leather furniture my nephew convinced me to get and transformed my living room from a man cave to a lovely, striking space. It's the best purchase I've made all year, I'm so glad I took a chance on it. Read more
