Surprisingly easy install except for the normal plumbers problem of having to lie on your back pull yourself up with one arm while you reach up in the tight little corners to screw stuff down. If you have to drill through a granite countertop, I strongly recommend calling a countertop company like I did and asking if somebody can come out and drill a hole. Once installed there were no leaks and it worked perfectly. Water is absolutely crystal clear and has no smell or taste. Contrary to belief that plastic is cheaper, they use the PEX type plumbing model. It's plastic tubes with quick connects. It works just like the PEX piping and it's a clean, easy install. You don't need a plumber to install it, just make yourself do it. It's a plug and play system. As for water quality? I have no idea. I bought it becuase Consumer Reports recommended it. They rated it based on smell and taste. Hmmm? I didn't read that closely. I want it to filter out all the crap so it's not going into my body. I hope it does that. I haven't been able to find much online about it. Maybe I will do a water test and see and I can post the results here. We shall see. It's hard to rate with stars. I mean, it works. The water flow is amazing. There are no leaks. It was easy to install. So I will give it five stars for that reason but that doesn't mean the water is any good. I mostly wanted to comment because I saw people saying it's a cheap system. It's not. It's using the newest, easiest technology. As long as they keep making these, I will keep buying them. This is probably my fith or sixth unit. They are super easy to install. I paid a plumber to install the first one so that I could get a dedicated water valve and not have to highjack the cold water line. I wanted to be able to shut it off and still have a functional sink. The water from this is perfect. Tastes great. Goodbye bottles which definitely saves both the pile of recycling as well as the budget. I have tried, once, to just replace the filter. I don't know what I did wrong but it cracked the top. I had a slow leak that took me forever to track down. So now, I just replace the whole unit. I only use it for drinking water and there are only two people in the house. One unit will last upward of two years before the presure starts to drop. I assume that is the filter telling me it is full. The taste never drops. Buy this! You won't be disappointed. Read more

Excellent product. I tried to other filters that say they're as good as these GE originals, but neither of them was. These GE units also last a whole lot longer than look a likes. Read more
