Easy to install and simple to use, if you need a humidifier for your forced air furnace, this is a great solution. Ideal for either a new install or to replace an existing humidifier. The odds are good your furnace has this same humidifier on it already. If you take care of it, it will last for a long time. If you have hard water, make sure to service this Humidifier at least twice a year, and even 4 times a year. Hard water is hard on components such as this unit. Keep the filter and screen clear and make sure the water supply is set at a low rate and you will get years, if not a decade or more out of this humidifier. If you ignore it and don't service it, plan on replacing it hard water is very tough on the components . A very well made and respected brand, you should get service out of this humidifier if you simply take care of it..............and it's an excellent value. Read more

Brittle plastic snapped on old unit when removing a thumb nut. Stud broke off with interior plastic when trying to remove drain pain for cleaning. On new unit I used anti seize compound on all studs to prevent corrosion welding of thumb nuts to studs. Should last another 25 years. Unit installed easily using the same eight screws in the same holes from original installation. Reused original water valve/solenoid and humidistat; no need to change out any plumbing or wiring. Easy peasy Read more

The kit came exceptionally well packaged! This includes all the parts and pieces for install from zero. It has the control unit, solonoid, on off valve (shark bite), tubing and collar for attaching duct work. Also included were a full set in instructions, template for cutting if needed and humidifier pad. I kept all the redundant parts I already had as backups. Would definitely purchase again! Read more

The solenoid valve on my trusty old humidifier started a horrible buzzing noise that reverberated through the house, and since the lower plastic housing has had a crack for years that slowly leaks I figured good time to replace the unit. It's nice that everything is the same size so the swap out was pretty easy, but given that there haven't been any improvements AT ALL and if you are having a valve issue only (unit not leaking), look into cleaning out the valve or replacing it only. Same you some time and moolah. Side gripe - the HQ for GeneralAire is a couple of miles from where I work so I've gone there in the past to buy filter pad replacements. It's cheaper to get them through Amazon after shipping how many times than to walk in the front door of the place that makes them. Bleh. Read more
