Warm. The inside is soft and fuzzy, with a smooth outer surface. There is a flap at the face, which can flip down to eat or talk without removal. Holes above the ears for sunglasses. My son rides motorcycles. The common issue is the bottom of his face covering getting wind in between the shirt and balaclava. Making him and his riding friends cold. He asked me to sew one to his shirt. I was concerned since most have just a tiny eye cutout. When these arrived they were so nice. And my son can actually pull his head all the way out of the opening since the flap allows the vision area to open so wide. I purchased 2 more of these once I saw how well they are made. I've never worn a balaclava before so I could only compare these to wearing a knit scarf. These are quicker and more convenient to put on than a scarf and they are more effective because the wind will not whip them around. Comfortably snug fit, keeps my neck and head warm. I wanted the option of having my mouth covered and it does keep my face warm but it feels too snug over my mouth and nose.
