Don't buy it

S TealAugust 21, 2025

My son bought the YETI-4000 and six solar panels to power his Airstream off-grid. The first problem was a faulty solar panel collector cable, they sent out another and it took about a week. Once the Airstream was wired in correctly, and the YETI-4000 operational with the remote controller and the Bluetooth in, from full charge and shore power plus solar input of 680 it would show less than 8 hours of remaining power, I understand that it doesn't start taking power input until it has run down a certain percentage, so he unplugged the shore power and let it run from solar with only the refridgerator running. It drained the battery within 6 hours. It took him weeks to get an answer at customer support, they never answered his e-mails, and he had to call them and wait on hold for 30 minutes at a time, it would terminate the call but eventually they answered. He documented the problems and the times he called and e-mailed it directly to the person in Support at every step. They sent him out another unit and that took about 2 weeks. It was a brick, wouldn't charge from any source. He went through the maze to customer support again, they sent him a shore power to DC cable saying that that should charge it enough for it to function properly. 2 weeks later he gets the cable and plugs it in, nothing, still a brick. Another maze to customer support, they told him on the previous step that if the dc charge cable didn't work, they would "hand test" another unit, send it to him, and refund his money. As of this writing, he got the 3rd unit, it works exactly like the first, about 6 hours of refridgerator until empty no matter how much solar is showing charging. They denied telling him they would refund his money, but he has it in e-mails from the customer support person he talked to, he has documented every scentilla of this along with the email's and names of all customer support people. So the numbers you see in this advertisement are a total fiction and the product does not nor has it ever functioned as advertised. Right now my son has 3 units, 2 that discharge at an alarming rate and do not accept charge as they discharge, and one unit that is completely dead. As a result, he wasn't running all summer in Leadville CO, but instead has run in Charlotte NC swelter, he is out more than 5K and when he has used the airstream, he has to run the generator, that is supposed to charge the Yeti 4000 to 100 percent in less than 2 hours, all night to prevent the power unit from shutting down. Extremely Unreliable!

JaimeeSeptember 10, 2025

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Problems starting day one! It’s just an annoying 100 lbs, blinking and beeping PAPER WEIGHT!! You would be better off buying the Yeti 3000, it’s a very reliable model! It’s my belief, that Goal Zero lost its way when they tried to add the internet to this thing, was a complete disaster from day one, it’s totally unreliable! To the guys at Goal Zero, I needed a power station that could power the Internet in an emergency, NOT ONE THAT RELIES ON IT!!! Worthless!! Now I have to buy another 3000 just to do the job that the 4000 Pro was meant to do! DON’T BUY IT! Read more
