Cute Neckline, Sad lack of peplum waist
On the fence about this one, ladies… Very on the fence about this one, ladies. Pros first: the neckline is really cute, and the sleeves are actually long enough for tall girls — rare win. For reference, I’m 5'9", 147 lbs, 36D/29/39 and ordered a size medium. Now the cons: not to sound big on myself, but I usually get quite a few compliments on my figure. This top? It feels like it just kind of… gives up in the middle before the peplum flare. Instead of defining your waist, it widens it, which is the opposite of what a babydoll/peplum cut should do. It’s definitely cuter belted or worn casually, but unbelted it has that “slightly boxy, slightly confused” silhouette. My biggest issue is the vibe mismatch. The neckline is flirty, but the not-quite-tailored body puts it in that “no idea where I’d wear this” purgatory. I’m a lady lawyer and wear suits for court, so it’s not polished enough for work. And on the weekends? I doubt I’ll be out here belting sweaters to make them more flattering. It’s a “meh” for me, dawg. Read more
