This Govee Pendant Light for Kitchen Island is one of those upgrades that instantly makes your space feel more modern and customized. I installed 2 of them in my kitchen over my counters and where I prepare food. I have a new home and it only came with tiny recessed lights around the house and they're not nearly powerful enough for larger spaces. Now, with these two lights, the ability to display multiple colors at once across different segments adds a lot of depth and personality that you don’t get from standard smart lights. Brightness is solid for everyday use, with up to around 1300 lumens and a wide adjustable color temperature range from warm (2700K) to cool daylight (6500K), so it works just as well for cooking as it does for setting a relaxing evening vibe . The high CRI also helps colors look natural, which is great over a kitchen island or dining area. CRI is not an area to overlook when purchasing smart bulbs. Otherwise it can really throw off the light look in your home. Where this light really shines is in customization. You get millions of colors, multiple lighting segments you can control independently, and a ton of preset scenes and effects. It’s easy to dial in exactly the look you want, whether it’s clean white lighting or something more dynamic for entertaining. Granted you get most of these features in the Govee app and not when connected to an Echo, Homekit, Homie Pro, etc. That's annoying but it's the norm for now. Matter compatibility is another big plus—it integrates nicely with different smart home platforms, so you’re not locked into one ecosystem. Voice control with Alexa or Google Assistant works well, and the app gives you full control over brightness, color, and schedules . I wish it wasn't limited to Blue Tooth or Wi-Fi protocols but at least it has both of those. Installation is also more manageable than expected for a pendant light, and the adjustable hanging cable makes it easy to get the height just right over your island or table . First off the pictures submitted also show the Govee String Lights in the background. I have had 2 sets of them and am super happy with those. In General out of the 3 Govee purchases I have made - The products are well made - and reasonably priced. Unfortunately I had to contact customer support and they were right there to help when needed. The Pendant Ligjt—- So it’s very bright- the colors are really amazing- The physical appearance of the light itself is very pleasing- easy to put together- I am not a big fan of the changing color scenes - but there are plenty there if want them. My Glitch- but I don’t think it is the unit - - I hooked mine to a wall switch that was already there. Installed it tuned it on - perfect it worked etc, and looked great. Later that day I turned it on again and it flashed a few times and went out. I said oh boy and turned it off again and on again- was now working fine again- So once in awhile like 1 time out of 10 times it would do this. If it remains powered up all the time Zero Problems. I looked on the internet to see if this was a problem for anyone one else - found nothing, So I went to Govee Support and they gave me some suggestions- one of which suggested that it might be on a dimmer switch which it was not - however I did meter the power to the unit and it was 120 volt ac exactly. and there was a previous fixture there prior to the Govee Light that worked correctly. Anyway back and forth with Govee and the sent me a new fixture to try. - I did not install it I powered up from a different power source (wall outlet) in the house and tested it on a table - same problem so maybe it’s my power/router not sure - so I offered to return the replacement and kept the old unit. I believe my problem is unique however I can not make an honest review without mentioning it. The problem is really not a big deal and as mentioned I think it might be something with my house. Despite all this I would not hesitate to buy a Govee Product again- actually when it is warmer I intend to install some of the permanent outdoor lights for the house. Very night lamp, Easy to use, app is pretty straight forward with pre-built color templates., slight learning curve (on the app). very light weight and easy to install, comes with all mounting hardware and screws. pendant cord is adjustable for a lower or higher height lamp; excess cable can be shoved into your conduit/mounting box, so later if you move it or want a different style you can easily release the locking nut and extend the wire to your height of choice. If hooked to a switch, whatever color you set, will return when power is switched back on. Read more
