It comes in a cream color which is pleasing and measures 10.7 inches wide and 6.4 inches tall. Super compact and easy to put away when not in use! Steaming your baby's food instead of boiling helps preserve the vitamins in it making it healthier. It has two mixing modes-- a manual stirring control so you can control the texture if you want--you can do fine texture, medium texture or coarse texture which is just chunkier and an auto mixing mode. You can adjust the consistency depending on your baby's needs. You can also sterilize it--it has a built in sterilizer mode, you just put water in the reservoir and press the button. So you can sterilize it before use, right after use and after you clean it so it's ready to go the next time. Speaking of cleaning, all the parts are detachable--making it easy to get all the food washed out. There are no crevices for food to get stuck in. You can put water in the blender and press auto blend to pre-rinse it even. You do have to hand wash, it's not dishwasher safe. The dual layer steam basket has a high efficiency steam flow--keeping continuous circulation for more efficient steaming. It also doubles the capacity! A silicone custom spatula comes with it which is a nice little add on! It also comes with a book of recipes and recommended steaming times for many different fruits and veggies. It definitely makes the whole process super easy and seamless! It doesn't make a lot of noise. About what you would expect something like this to sound like--nothing too much. And this little machine is very versatile! It will work for your baby whether they are 6 months or 1 year. You could even use it to cook supper for the rest of the family. I have been looking for a combination of steam + blend in one machine, and I come across with this perfect baby food maker. In the past I have been buying premade baby food from store, but somehow I want to give my baby the most natural home made food without destroying the nutrient while preserving the texture that baby can swallow. Previously I was using manual boiling method + manual blending + smashing, but it still remains pretty not fine quality. After trying this, the blended vegetable/fruit are pretty smooth and fine! What I do, is I use the steam function to soften the food, and follows with the blending process, all in one machine without occupying additional space for different machines. The container size is decent enough(not too small/big) to make 2 portion of baby meals. Another part I like is the sterile function, after I washed it, I would do one time of sterile cleaning prior using it. Even the washing part is easy, I would pour water into the container, and "turn" on for while to clean it(mainly to clean the blade), then follow with regular washing process. Lastly, I like the fact that it comes with a manual that comes with tips in using the machine to make baby food, this is great for first time parent like us trying to make a natural/healthy baby food. Then I started to think about other ways to use it, since I was going to be keeping it. I think it can be used well beyond the realm of baby and toddler food making. For example, there are lots of occasions in my small family when we eat steamed vegetables, drink fresh juices, and make fresh fruit spreads and even party dips. I also recall caring for an elderly relative who could only eat blended foods. How nice this would have been for her, because the steam cooking feature helps maintain, not destroy nutrients; we can all benefit from nutrient-rich foods. It takes about 15 minutes to steam foods, depending on their density. The listing's Product details say that this is intended to start baby-led weaning at 6+ months.
