What caught my eye was the heart shape and the rose quartz color, and the size it appeared to be. What has me loving it is so much deeper. I've never had a gua sha massage, though I've read about them. Whether they have any benefits, well... if I'm comforted by, I don't know, red balloons, that's good enough for me. I'm not expecting miracles. This tool (I'm not sure if it is glass, stone, acrylic, and I'm not willing to throw it to the floor to find out, and I don’t really care) is smooth and stays cool and is delightful to hold. The size fits nicely in either hand, my thumb in the "heart v", my fingers along the longer, indented side, the rounded side close to my wrist.. Though I've used it daily in the two weeks I've had it, it hasn't been its intended use. Yes, I read the little instruction manual they so kindly included. And I watched some videos. Eventually, I will try that. Right now, though... I use it as a touch stone. I meditate daily, and I've come to think of this stone as meditation when you can't actually meditate. I have many (too many!) online meetings, and some of them can get quite fraught. Holding this tool keeps me centered and focused and calm. It does the same when watching the news or checking in with friends who are going through a rough time. I guess it is my emotional support tool. (It won't need an airline seat...) And I'm really okay with that! Everything points to this tool lasting for a long time, and that it stores so easily in the little tin box, makes it easy to take anywhere. It has been to the DMV - need I say more?! If you are using this as intended, please be sure to read and watch videos, you really do need to be so gentle as you stroke your skin, and it's important to be moving it in the correct direction. If, like me, it's a comfort tool, it is virtually care free - no need to feed or walk or do anything. Just... be. What really bothers me about the listing is no where on the listing does it state the material of the Gua Sha. The images show a rose quartz looking tool, but the price makes you wonder if a resin one will show up. It's definitely some kind of stone. It's cold to the touch, but under a black light it has an odd patterning. Some rose quartz is dyed and will glow orange under a UV light. This kinda glows, but what are those green circles under the UV light?! I'm not a geologist, just a huge fan and collector of rocks, and I have NO idea what this is. It has no inclusions, imperfections or flaws. It's a solid pink. It comes in a container that reminds me of those white mints. You know the ones in the tins that are super strong.... it comes in that tin wrapped really well. Definitely impressed with the packaging. It's a lot smaller then the other gua sha I have. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but something to note. It's also quite thin and although the sides are rounded over because it's so thin I definitely feel it more. I love how pretty the color of this guasha is and the soothing cool touch. The weight of it is decent and pretty standard for the size. I like how there is a little instruction booklet which makes it easier to use and increase effectiveness. It's so easy to clean as well, with just a bit of soap of water to remove any skincare product left over. I've been using guasha tools for fifteen years now and I cannot see myself not utilizing guasha tools. There's so much benefits to using this tool. This is very well made and has its container too.
