I have pretty large gaps between my teeth and use toothpicks often to get food out of the gaps. I had previously been using a hard plastic toothpick but it was irritating my gums. I gave these a try and am happy I did. The narrow tip does a great job of getting into the gap and the soft rubbery bristles do a great job of cleaning. For better or worse, I reuse them until they wear out -- the rubbery bristles start to disappear and sometimes the stiff tip gets bent. This happens faster than I would like, maybe after a few uses. But then I think about the stuff I'm inadvertently swallowing. I should probably cut back to a single use. I can put the entire pick inside my mouth to reach interior gaps, but if I lose my grip I might swallow it and that wouldn't be good. GUM makes a bigger version with a longer handle but it didn't last very well and I couldn't justify the cost. I'm probably going to try a different kind of interdental brush -- there are a lot of different styles that shouldn't degrade as quickly. Read more
