It's an efficient and easy machine to use. It works well. I set it to make 8 cups of coffee. It takes about 8 minutes. The single cup feature is as advertised. No issues. Coffee tastes great. A well-done coffemaker. High quality materials, fit and finish. I've used about a week now, pots of coffee stay warm long enough for me to drink all day, without requiring a heater pad. It uses a variety of k-cups/pods, via adapter. The height adapter for the cup is removable for ice brew. There is a single brew adapter that allows for more coffee than a k-cup, a richer taste. There is a strong brew button that raises the temperature of the water if desired. A meter ticks off coffee brewed as it's brewing. I've cycled a lot of single serve and one or two pots a day. It did not come with a mesh pot filter, just the single serve adapters (1 each style). The water container is awkward to grip, tho i'm using it in a linear arrangement for narrow spaces, not on the left side of the machine. This replaces the similar Hamilton Beach machine that does not have a water reservoir. This one is much nicer. It brews in about half the time, it’s significantly hotter, has a smaller footprint, and is much more modern looking and attractive. I only give it 4 stars because it will not take the biodegradable soft pouch coffee pods. They are not as tall as a plastic pod and the needle on the new machine isn’t as tall as the old one and does not puncture the pods. It still makes coffee as, the water still flows though the permeable pouch but some of it also bubbles out the top puncture hole. When the coffee comes out the top hole it brings grounds up as well, which then flow down and into the cup. I got around that by buying a French press stainless steel filter and cutting it to the same size as the pod holder. It works but now we have to clean that filter every few pods. The other problem is the tray that holds the coffee cup is very loose in its holder. It does not snap in, it’s very unstable and I am afraid it is going to fail and drop my cup. All of that said we are still glad we purchased it. If Hamilton Beach fixed those two things it would be perfect! Read more

Can’t say enough about this coffee maker. The dual function for individual versus carafe is a great option for when you have guests. I made a pot of coffee. The next day it was still hot! This has so many options and easy to use. Does not take long to heat and brew. I don’t even use the timer for this reason. It’s compact enough to have on the counter which was import at as well. This has been a great purchase for our household. Love having the capability to brew pods or a full pot of coffee. The thermal carafe works well, keeping coffee warm for hours and preserving its flavor. I can make a pot in the morning and come back to it in the afternoon and it is still reasonably hot. Of course it won't be as hot when was first made, which I measured at 180°F initially, but still within range of enjoyable coffee temperature of 150°F after 4 to 6 hrs staying in the pot. In regard to the individual pod coffee option, that too has been a rewarding experience. I only experienced a problem once so far with a defective pod that failed to get pierced correctly. But that was a Don Francisco brand pod with a plastic seal rather than a foil seal that was not taut enough for the needle to break thru fully. But every other cup I have made with a pod has been a pleasant success of good tasty coffee. I think the thermal carafe version of this coffee maker is definitely the one to buy. I really like that the carafe lid is easy to lock into place and the spout pours neatly without dribbling and incorporates a little flapper to keep the heat inside the pot until poured. The opening of the carafe is wide, making it easy to reach in and clean when needed. I also like that the unit has a dedicated location to store the carafe while brewing a pod. I think this is a well thought out design that conserves counter space while allowing for flexibility of coffee making options. This is a game changer for any household looking for options to suit different members' coffee drinking preferences and also make enough to serve a group with the 12 cup carafe. Read more

Coffee grounds constantly overflow the basket when making 8, 10, or 12 cups. We have tried multiple solutions, but none work. Also, the basket itself comes out, but the slide that holds the basket does not, which makes it even harder to clean and get all the grounds out for the next pot. On the positive side: This is the first time we have had a thermal carafe and would get that option again. Also, the options for selecting between single-serve, pot, etc are super easy. We are heavy coffee drinkers (usually 3, 10- cup pots a day, and the occasional single-serve). I would not recommend purchasing this if you are making larger quantities ....we rarely if ever only make 6 cups or less, so I cannot give a review of how the brew works for that size. Read more

So extremely disappointed. I was very excited about this item when it arrived. It is sleek and compact. All the features seem amazing. Single serve pods, single serve grounds, full pot 2cups up to 12 cups. Hot or iced. I should have payed attention to the reviews. After using the single serve option twice it started throwing error codes and quite brewing properly. So I switched to the pot feature. Grounds went everywhere. Steam and water was spouting everywhere. It takes a long time to brew and just leaves a mess everywhere. It’s brand new and I took the time to run several pots of clean water through it but it keeps flashing clean and needle. I am so disappointed and annoyed and how bad this item is. Read more
