I really love this elegant carry on. It's a good size and is light weight, but sturdy. The color is a nice creamy beige which will stand out from all the dark suitcases in a classy way. I love the look of a cream colored suitcase but was hesitant because everyone knows a light color would show scuffs. But... the texture will help hide minor scuffs that may happen over time and if it does get permanent marks, I can replace it without feeling too guilty considering the reasonable price. The handle extends easily and the wheels turn smoothly. I love that it is NOT the "clam shell" design that takes up so much room when you open it. If you use a couple of packing cubes, I bet you could easily fit a week's worth of smartly chosen outfits. I thought it had a "wet pocket" inside, but it doesn't. Just two mesh pockets. This isn't a big deal to me considering TSA limits wet items you can bring anyway and I will pack those in a separate bag. It has little feet on one long side so it doesn't have to rest on the wheels if you need it to orient another way. Overall, I am very pleased and can't wait to go on my next trip! Read more

Love, love, love this luggage! I looked at a TON of bags before my recent trip to Rome because I wanted something stylish that also wouldn’t take up too much space. European hotel rooms are usually a bit smaller, and the one we stayed in only had a tiny corner closet—no dressers at all. Having a top-opening suitcase made such a huge difference. I could keep it on the luggage stand, open it from the top, and easily access all my things without the suitcase taking over the entire room. My husband brought a typical clamshell suitcase, and his took up so much room. It was constantly in the way, which made me even more grateful that I chose this top-opening style. The wheels roll smoothly and softly, the color is beautiful, and the overall design is just perfect for travel. It handled the trip to Italy really well with only minor scuffing. On the way back it picked up a few more marks, but that’s totally normal for any luggage, and if you want to keep it pristine, you can always buy a luggage wrap. This bag was exactly what I needed, and I truly love it. I’m already excited to take it back to Italy next year! Read more

I got three of these for my elementary school boys. They were rough on them: crashing, riding, racing, and one thrown when my youngest son got frustrated. Not a dent and still smooth rolling. They fit perfectly as a carryon item, with plenty of room for a weeks worth of clothes, toiletries, extra shoes, jacket, and swim gear with extra room for a couple of toys. I also really liked the trunk style opening. It made it easy for them to pack and organize without causing a mess if they opened it up while traveling. So, if you’re looking for a durable, sturdy, and secure suitcase that still looks nice and clean, then I highly suggest you give these a try! Definitely worth the price as we will be using them often. PS- no other travelers were harmed during the course of this review. Though a few were startled 😅 Read more

I bought 2 of the Hanke 20" Carry On (top opening) for myself and my bf. We took it on a 10 day trip to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome). Here are some quick points with my experience with the bag: - Smooth rolling wheels and sturdy design. I am more careful and lift my bag, but my bf is rougher and drags his bag over stairs/curbs and it held up quite well, even over cobblestones. - Telescoping handle has 3 levels and was able to easily accomodate myself 5'6" and bf 5"10 comfortably. It was smooth to pull up/down. It felt solid even when we rolled it over uneven surfaces and lifting it by the handle in spur of the moment situations. Note: If it's overfilled it does affect the rails and gets "sticky" making it harder to pull the handle in/out. - Although it is 20" I still had a little trouble fitting it in the overhead of the AA widebody plane (older model, I dont remember). It didnt fit in the first bin, right above our bulk head seats, but it fit horizontally in the next bin. - Capacity isn't as big as pictured. I had to compress my clothes and I'm a fairly light packer. I also had a carry on duffel which held my toiletries and misc items because it didn't fit. - Top opening + hard case was the main reason why I bought this because it was raining during our trip and I hate the space clamshell luggage takes up when open (rooms in europe are smaller than USA). The bag worked as described and all my items stayed dry and secure. - Weight is listed as 7.9lbs and when filled it was kind of heavy, but not uncomfortably where I couldn't lift it over my head to load into the bin. My biggest pet peeve was the handle design - it isn't a smooth transition from handle to pole. There were cases I had to quickly take my duffel on/off multiple times in a short span and found myself frustrated because it kept catching on the trolley sleeve every time. Although not a dealbreaker, it is inconvenient enough. I also wish it had some of the other neat features like the Mixi (cup holder and hooks for coats or phone), Lojel (expandable), or the Biaggi (hybrid fabric/polycarbonate for a lighter weight) but those are personal preferences. TLDR Pros - Smooth, compact, sturdy Cons - Handle design, weight, lack of userful features Overall I'd give this bag about an 8/10. Read more
