The quality of the mat is good. No ripping or any pieces falling off. I love the color of the pink mat, so I went with that color. I thought a half inch tick yoga mat would be a bit more comfy, but then again it's pretty light for being half an in thick. I mainly use my mat for physical therapy, but now that I finally have a yoga mat I may expand into doing yoga, soon! There's the slightest chemical smell after having mine for about 3 weeks, but it doesn't bother/distract me at all. I enjoy the extra large dimension of the mat, too. I didn't think I'd need a mat of this size, but I struggle to get off the ground, so the size works for me to roll over and get up. (Had spinal fusion surgery many years ago.)
