Small, super hot, dries watercolor paper way more quickly and WAY more quietly than a hairdryer, without blasting the wet paint around. One button, off or on, easy for anyone to use. Note it is CRAZY hot compared to a hair dryer, so this is NOT for unsupervised children. My only quibble is that it is guaranteed for only 6 months. Most of mine (I teach watercolor and have always had 3 or 4 in my studio for the last 6 years) have lasted a lot longer than that, but the most recent one did not even last 6 months. Still, a terrific tool and I highly recommend to for anyone working with beads or feathers, or anything a hair dryer would destroy. Note, it is not to be used with an extension cord. Read more

I never met a Ranger product that I didn't like, and this was no exception. It became my favorite tool from the moment I received it. Previously I had been using an old hair dryer that was loud and blew everything around. It also took FOREVER to dry whatever I needed drying. In contrast. the Ranger Heat It Crat tool is quiet and efficient for projects that can tolerate higher heat. I wouldn't advise it for all cases. Sometimes air flow rather than heat is necessary, and this is not the tool for that. I do have a small desk fan for those projects. There was a mishap that I have to mention; the heat it tool stopped working one week after Amazon's return policy. I reached out to Ranger Industries via their website. They had a replacement shipped out to me right away because it was well within the 6-month warranty window. I am quite pleased with their customer service. They responded very quickly to my email and only asked me to confirm the purchase as it wasn't made directly through them but through an Amazon vendor. As soon as I sent the requested information, they initiated the replacement. But boy, having to go back to my old hair dyer while waiting or my new one to arrive was almost painful! The experience absolutely highlighted that the Ranger Heat It Craft Tool was worth the investment. I value excellent customer service every bit as much as I value good product. It is sometimes even more important in this era where it is lacking from so many businesses. That being said, I will try to remember to update this review in a few months time to let you know if I have any issues with the replacement. I know I will if there are issues, otherwise I may forget about it. So, if you are reading this well in the future and the review has not been updated, you can probably assume that things have gone well. Read more

This is the perfect heated dryer that doesn't make any noise (unlike a hair dryer) and it doesn't blow a lot of air (unlike a hair dryer). So it is perfect for me. I am an artist. I paint with water-thinned acrylic on raw canvas. My paintings typically have 15+ layers, so shortening the drying time and not blowing the paint around are essential features. I started using this years ago when I was still painting watercolors. Read more

This thing is amazing. I have another heat tool that is long and slim that I use for drying underglaze on my pottery. So I purchased this one for painting projects. It is really quiet and gets really hot. I highly recommend. Easy to use. Works great. Read more

Great little heat gun but does not have a long life. This is my second one in a year. The previous one just stopped working. Read more

Wasn’t sure about this because it says fabric in the description. Don’t know why it says that. It’s the correct US version Ranger heat tool. I needed a heat tool that was MUCH less intense than my embossing heat gun. My heat gun is so intense it warps all paper very easily which can be frustrating. This is a low velocity heat tool that is the size of a tiny travel hair dryer. It helps dry your watercolor, alcohol markers, stamping inks. It’s very quiet. Only has an on or off button. And does a very low light warm/hot air that SLOWLY dries your item without warping or moving the paper all around. It also helps dry without blowing whatever is wet across the paper. That’s happened many times with my embossing gun. I find myself grabbing for it all the time. Didn’t realize I needed it so much until I got it. I love it and recommend it to anyone who paints, stamps, or colors and doesn’t always want to wait for things to air dry. In my personal opinion I would not use it to emboss. This tool is for drying purposes only. I love it and hope you will too. Read more

This is the third one I’ve owned. It’s nice that they don’t blow things everywhere. Very quiet compared to other embossing tools. Great for quick drying, embossing and not sending things flying around. This is the first black one I’ve owned, I like it better since stains won’t show up. There was a problem with it making noise after a couple uses. The noise wouldn’t be there when starting to use it, it would come soon during use. Contacted Ranger through their site and they replaced it after supplying receipt and photo of manufacture date from handle thru email. Highly recommend ranger products, they stand by them and provide fast no hassle customer service. Read more

I genuinely love(d) this heat tool. And I really want to give it top stars because it works so quietly and so well. When it works. I have bought this twice and the same thing happened with both. They worked great for a few months. And then suddenly shut off in the middle of a heating project and won’t turn back on. It’s like a weird glitch. I bought it again the second time because I thought the first time was just that. A glitch. But the exact same thing happened with the second tool. So I messaged Ranger asking about the issue. And here’s the unfortunate thing. They didn’t respond. I can only assume that is because they KNOW this is a problem. Because why else would you give a customer service version “no comment”? I wish I can give five stars (especially since I normally love Ranger products overall) for the perfect heat tool. But I can’t do that if it doesn’t actually work. Read more
