I have no way to test it other than to say, turning all of Internet Wi-Fi cell devices and everything else off it’s still alerts high and rapidly flashes for no reason well in my own home I have no idea how to test this to make sure that it actually detect what it’s supposed to I think mostly it’s a gimmick and I am very disappointed Read more

There were a rash of news reports of changing rooms at malls having hidden cameras , it was legit freaking me out. I bought this to give me peace of mind when shopping for new clothes. It is easily packable in my sling backpack or diaper bag. I felt this hidden camera detector was a bargain for the peace of mind. I'm not exactly the most tech savvy individual, but I am somewhat decent and this camera detector was super easy and intuitive for me to both set up and use. This is a nicely-sized, easy-to-use little gadget that actually works. It came mostly charged, and a quick session with a usb charger topped it up (usb-c, so you already have cables, although one's included too). It's simple to switch modes, and the instructions are clear and straightforward, and easy to follow along on the detector. In use, you can probably test much of the functionality yourself, if you have any kind of security cameras and internet setup. Some modes are easy and obvious - the infrared detector is very sensitive and picks up signals immediately - while others will need a bit of human involved, like recognizing camera lens reflections, but if you know what you're looking for, it's quite apparent. The wi-fi detection is probably the most fiddly, just because it can be so sensitive, so if you're in a room with free internet, it'll start beeping immediately; you can adjust that too though, and then walk around to see specifically where the signal's coming from. I had my first experience with it on a work trip while I was staying in a hotel room. I switched the television off, set my phone to airplane mode, and then strolled around the room with the detector, gently passing it over the shelves, the space surrounding the bed, and any other electrical devices that were there. Every time that it detected anything that merited further investigation, the gadget provided unambiguous feedback. I was able to rapidly develop the ability to understand the variations in its signals as I approached or moved away from a source. After having a couple of runs in the room, I got the feeling that I had performed a satisfactory visual and electrical sweep of the space. As a result, I was able to relax and have a more restful night's sleep. The primary locations where I use it at home are my workplace and living area, and it is often anytime I introduce new electronic equipment or reorganize existing ones. Every time I have visitors over or utilize a room for videoconferences, I make sure to do that. I feel more in command of the area when I give shelves, picture frames, and power strips a rapid inspection. The procedure is not a time-consuming one, and I have come to establish a routine that addresses the aspects that I am most concerned about in a manner that does not involve being obsessive or neurotic. Once you have gotten used to using the controls a few times, you will find that the answer is simple to interpret. I travel a lot and have encountered some sketchy situations where I had to request another room or leave the hotel. Hidden cameras are a thing - whether it’s the hotel or someone else looking to steal or worse hiding cameras in rooms. This device works in detecting cameras! It may not be fool proof, but it seems to work 99% of the time which gives me peace of mind. I take a stick up Ring camera with me while traveling to keep in my room while I’m out and about.
