Every single time that I buy hikari, my fish absolutely love it. Unfortunately I have baby bristlenose plecos and I was having to break up the normal hikari algae waivers into four pieces. I thought I would give these mini ones a try and they are the absolutely the best size for small bottom dwellers. Shrimp and snails love them too. All the animals in my tank go crazy for them. The shrimp, snails, betta. I like that they’re bigger cause the betta can snip at them without eating it whole. Which was the problem with the old pellets I was using. The betta would eat them and leave my shrimp foodless. They sink fast and you can break them into smaller pieces if you want. I’m a big fan. According to our 10" long algae eater, who looks suspiciously like the cover model of the product, these hit the spot when truly hungry, however, he sometimes prefers to let the wafers soak up tank water for a day or so prior to consumption because the anticipation of a slimy bloated green pellet is so preferable to a new crunchy tab. Apparently I have over estimated his appetite, or he simply prefers 'real' algae on the sides of the tank, which is freshly made daily. Been using these for years now! Unless I find a need for bigger wafers, these are a go-to for any shrimp keeper or other algae scavengers. Remember they will float around and possibly land in a less than desired location for your intended crew, so it’s recommended to either drop near your background plants or at night when your lights go off to be sure your nocturnal wet pets get to them before everyone else!
