Really nice Gifting knife! Excellent quality very sharp

A Happy PersonDecember 23, 2025

This is an absolutely perfect knife for gifting as it's well presented and packaged, and just plain beautiful. The fit and finish were perfect and the design is well thought out; feels great in the hand. Slices like butter through softer foods and even knocks out tough items like carrots with aplomb. Do NOT put this (or ANY well made knife) in the dishwasher!! The steel is High Carbon steel for a reason - it holds an edge well and can be sharpened to a razor edge. Cheaper "dishwasher safe" knifes are generally made with cheaper steel which is easy to clean (and doesn't rust) but needs constant sharpening because it's SOFT, so know your steels! Hand wash and immediately dry and you be treated to the pleasures of true high quality knives. Hoshanho is a big player in the market of "above entry grade" and even has some items that enter "ultra quality", so they know what they're doing. They're well priced, but look for sales and you can find top grade knives for a great price. Highly Recommended! Hope this helps you. :) Read more

Good quality knife at a decent price

StormyJanuary 4, 2026

I have a couple other knives from Hoshanho and think this one is of similar high quality for a mid-priced kitchen knife. It is very sharp and cuts through a tomato with ease. The handle has a nice weight and good knuckle clearance, but I have small hands so ymmv. But, I do have one complaint that the blade should be thinner and more flexible to be a true tomato knife. This one is more like a short steak knife. It doesn’t affect the function though so I didn’t take off any stars for that. I think for the current list price it’s a good value for the money. Solid Mid Size Serrated Knife with Good Performance, but Handle Runs Small

Mister GeorgeDecember 20, 2025

This is a pretty nice midsize serrated knife, and the overall construction feels solid. The blade is labeled as Japanese high carbon steel, though the knife is made in China, which did not make too much sense to me. There are also some visible marks along the blade near the transition into the handle. I can’t tell if they were missed during polishing or if they’re just part of the manufacturing process, but they do give the finish an uneven look in that area. If you have larger hands, the handle may feel small. I tried to show that in my photos and included comparisons with some well known kitchen knives. The knife is comfortable, but definitely more suited for medium or smaller hands. In terms of cutting performance, the blade is very sharp and the serrations are cleanly cut. It sliced through a ripe tomato with zero squishing and handled grapes just as easily. The edge feels precise and capable. The handle appears to be real wood, and while I am not one hundred percent sure whether the knife has a full tang, it feels sturdy enough that it might. It comes packaged in a nice looking box, making it gift worthy. At the time of this review, it is listed for $45.99, which seems fair for a forged serrated knife with good materials and solid performance. I do recommend it, but if you have large hands you may want to look for a model with a bigger or more ergonomic handle. Read more

Incredibly sharp and precise, perfect for tomatoes and produce

MichaelDecember 19, 2025

This knife does exactly what a good tomato knife should do, and it does it exceptionally well. The serrated edge bites cleanly into tomato skin without crushing the flesh, making neat, effortless slices every time. It feels sharp right out of the box and stays consistent through repeated use, which immediately sets it apart from cheaper serrated knives. The size is ideal for fine prep work. It’s nimble, well-balanced, and easy to control, especially when working with softer fruits and vegetables. I’ve also found it useful for peppers, citrus, and other delicate items where precision really matters. The blade glides instead of tearing, which keeps everything looking clean and intact. The handle deserves special mention. It feels solid and comfortable in the hand, with a natural grip that doesn’t cause fatigue during longer prep sessions. Overall, the knife feels thoughtfully designed and well made, not just sharp for the sake of it. While it’s priced higher than basic tomato knives, the quality absolutely justifies it. This is a specialized tool that performs its role extremely well, and it’s a pleasure to use. An excellent addition to any kitchen that values precision and good craftsmanship. Read more

Great serrated paring knife

K. BaleyDecember 17, 2025

Hoshanho knives have been a favorite of mine recently, we have been using several of them this past year. The quality has been top notch, and my initial observation of this 5-inch serrated knife is the same. This is the first serrated knife I've gotten from Hoshanho, the standard price is decent (not cheap, but not super expensive either), but they often go on sale at a significant discount. This is part of their Loong series of knives which has a bright steel finish with a simulated wood handle. The knife is well balanced, the serrations are sharp and so is the tip of the blade. This is a knife that you would use when cutting carrots, peppers and tomatoes. Every Hoshanho knife I have is super sharp and retains its sharpness with minimal maintenance, this one is no exception. Very highly recommended! Read more

Amazing knife!

beergirl23December 20, 2025

This knife is awesome! I have already purchased the company's chef knife after using this one. If the quality is consistent, I will be getting them all! It is versatile and I've used it from bagels to oranges to tomatoes. It really does cut right through a tomato without squishing it. The handle is beautiful and it sits comfortably in your hand. It is a smooth transition from the metal to the wood. I think for a product with this good quality, this price is pretty standard. Price may seem high for 1 knife but it seems to sit in the correct price range for the quality and definitely worth it. Would highly recommend! Read more
