This is my second time ordering this shelf. I've had the other for about 3-4 years. This is very solid, durable, easy to put together. I am impressed. I love that it is real solid wood, it smells like pine out of the box. Great investment. Read more
Rarely do I leave reviews, but this HSH Bookcase definitely deserves a 10+ star rating. I shopped around for a while looking for an item that would fit very specifically in my area not blocking outlets and in-between 2 wall sconce lights while also having great shelf storage capacity. I also really did not want anything made out of particle board which most are and this unit has great looking, REAL wood shelving. Not a single "solid" piece of wood for shelves but honestly they are solid, very well constructed, and a great color. I ended up with the 6 tier model which arrived 2 days earlier than originally estimated for shipping, packed EXTREMELY well (but not overly, I can't stand dealing with mass amounts of styrofoam packing) with absolutely no damage. All hardware required to build it is included (and tools!) with extra hardware just in case. Packets of screws ect are labeled per stepped instructions and total time to put it together was maybe 20 mins. Super quick. The leveling feet (hard plastic) are awesome too (having uneven original old wood floors) and I added felted non-scuff pads to the bottom of them which I highly recommend doing & worked out perfect to prevent scratching. Absolutely no weird smells from the wood, very solid construction, great classic style w/simplicity, ample storage options pending the height ordered, and just a great purchase at an amazing price point compared to others! I honestly love everything about the shelf. The wood grain is really pretty, and the shelves are solid wood with a nice finish. It is definitely sturdy, which I needed because most of my books are hardcover. It was pretty easy to assemble. I especially liked how well it was packed, and that when I pulled the package inside I noticed a red string taped to the outside of the box. When I open the box, it turned out that the string was attached to the individually sorted bag of included hardware and tools. I also liked that extras of every piece of hardware and tool were included. I did notice that a few of the boards seemed a little warped, but once I began attaching them to the shelves, inserting the screws into the holes in the shelves, which were also lined with metal connectors, the tension of screwing the hardware together definitely straightened out the shelves. The metal shelf brackets have a matte finish and seem pretty sturdy. The brackets also have adjustable feet, which helps as my older home has uneven floors. On its own, the entire bookshelf seems pretty stable. However, it did come with a stability kit included, which can be used to attach the bookshelf to the wall. I didn’t use it since I don’t have any little kids around the house, but I appreciate that it was included with the package. Overall, I love the look and feel of the shelf. This is a very nice bookshelf. The shelves are thick, solid wood. Although they are amazingly light, they will hold substantial weight without bending. The assembly instructions are pretty clear and everything fit together easily and smoothly. It took about 30 min to assemble. The only tools needed (Allen wrench and spanner) are provided. I suggest lubricating all the bolts and threaded inserts with WD-40 before assembly. It makes things much easier. My only 'complaint' with this unit is with the gauge of steel used for the uprights. The uprights are plenty strong enough to support a complete row of hardcover books, but I think a heavier gauge steel should have been used. The uprights feel a bit too light for my liking. Read more
