Suspicious that i've been sent a used/refurbished item. The parts came in a loosely packed, unbranded box, each item not in individual boxes as Humanscale appears to send them. Additionally, the tension adjustment screw appears worn from where it's been previously adjusted. Perhaps that's from the factory like that, but potentially a returned or refurbished item. The movement: Upper arm swivel -- The movement is smooth Lower arm swivel -- The lower arm swivel seems to "stick" when in an extended position, can be overcame by applying Upward pressure on the monitor to reduce the weight. Height adjustment -- The height adjustment arm is smooth and the counterbalance adjustment works well. Rotation -- Near perfect rotation smoothness, no play making it nice to adjust the rotation without over-correcting to get to the perfectly level. Tilt adjustment -- after adjusting the tension, the tilt holds well, but allows for enough play in the tilt to be mildly annoying, but can achieve the desired tilt and have it hold. I'm unsure if the rough adjustment is due to it being a used/refurbished item or if this is the expected monitor arm quality. For a monitor arm of this cost and brand recognition, I had higher hopes. Debating if i should keep or return. Read more

stay away from this monitor arm

everything is good until the monitor is tilted to the upmost position. at this point, the joint will lock into place and the monitor cannot be tilted back down until the tension bolt is removed. even still, sometimes it can be difficult to bring the monitor back into position and force may be needed. also if care is not taken when re-inserting the bolt, it can grab the nut incorrectly and rotate endlessly. fortunately the base can be pried open to reveal a hex key that fits the bolt but that isn’t enough to compensate for this defect. humanscale support says that the locking behavior is normal but in my opinion, there is no need for it to happen. best to skip this series of monitor arms and find one that doesn’t lock when tilted.
