After receiving the fan (took 2 days with Amazon Prime) I unpacked the box and made sure that all parts were included, and they were. I followed the assembly instructions as well as the wiring instructions. I then secured it to the ceiling and turned on the circuit breaker. Everything worked.... the light turned on with the remote and lit up the whole room. I then turned the fan on with the remote and tried all three speeds and they all functioned properly. I then went through the balancing procedure (included in the instructions) only to find that it was perfectly balanced and didn't require any counter-weights that would have had to be attached to the fan blades. This seems to be a very well made fan and I highly recommend it. Amazon did well with this pick! Not to forget that the price was the best I saw during my research for the right product. Read more

I wanted a smaller fan with a low profile to circulate air in a bathroom with slightly less than 8 foot ceilings. This fits that bill nicely. It's quiet, moves a fair amount of air and is configured so that the blades are well above the head of my 6'2" 16 year old. Given his state of wakefulness when he's getting ready for school, that's pretty important. The light is brighter than I expected given other reviewers' comments. But I have plenty of other fixtures in the room. More disappointing to me is that the dimming range is very narrow, i.e., at it's dimmest it's not a lot less bright than at peak lumens. And also disappointing is that I only learned that after a pretty long wait on Hunter customer service because the remote arrived without dimming switched on. With a friendly tech's instructions (nowhere to be found in the manual or website) it was a only few minutes work to activate dimming. Why it wasn't shipped in a condition to perform as the manual says it will is a question not covered in his database. All in all, though, it's a solidly built, attractive fan that was pretty straightforward for this non-pro to install. Read more

I just installed this fan light where I had an existing one. This one puts out more air and is quieter. It takes two medium ( standard ) bulbs, CF or LED. It comes with two LEDs, and they are bright, not weak candelabra bulbs. The only complaint I have, is, that my existing fan was hardwired for fan and light separately. You can't do that with this fan. Also, the light is not dimmable. I had a Hampton Bay years ago with a remote that allowed you to dim the 9 in Circuline bulb. When you turn off the switch this unit does retain the last settings you used. Such as, light off , fan on high. This kit includes a short rod to get it closer to the ceiling, I did use it. This fan / light is 1 1/ 4 inch lower than the flush mount fan I replaced. That dimension is 82 1/ 8 inch from bottom of globe to floor. That would be 6 ft. 8 1/ 8 in. Update, I just put up another one of these fan/ lights. These are so much better than the ones that the builder put up, with the stupid pull chains. My wife doesn't like the single switch as the existing fan/ light is wired separately for the light and fan. Of course it leaves a dead switch. I don't care about that. The hardest part of putting these up is putting those little short screws with washer into the blades and mounts. A screwdriver that has the screw holder would be very useful in installing the blades. I must have dropped them 4 times trying to put in the first of the three screws per. Once it's up, you have a really nice fan. Read more

I purchased 7 of these fans, 4 new and 3 of them used/like new. Two of the used/like new units had a problem with the remote control unit, probably the reason they were returned. These I had installed in rooms in which they were rarely used, so more than 30 days elapsed before noticing the problem. In one case, while off, the light would flicker on for a fraction of a second approximately each 15-20 minutes. In the other, the fan and light would shut off for a second every 30 minutes. So my whole $30 savings (plus) on each was eaten up by paying for replacement remote controllers, which fixed the problem. No problems with the other 5 units. Aside from that, I am very happy with the look, sound level, remote functionality, etc. I put two in one large long room, and control them in parallel with one controller. Read more

Easy installation if you have an existing ceiling fan support already in place. Does not include a Remote-Activated Reverse -- you must slide a switch in the globe housing to reverse it. But does include the easiest Balancing Kit that I've seen -- a small plastic "clothespin" is used to move from blade to blade, to locate the best placement for the self-adhesive weight (mine only required one). Nice-looking light is brighter than others I've had (their Moderna was horribly dim). And it will take up to 100W-equivalent Daylight LEDs -- that's 14W Each. Only 2 are required. I also like that the flat globe is spring-retained -- you push up slightly and rotate it to fully-seat it in the slots. Does NOT include any extension tube for slanted ceilings. This has provided BRIGHT room light at the highest level I've experienced in an overhead ceiling fan - with the highest-power LED bulbs of 100W-equivalent rating. Choose Cool White for less harshness. I chose Daylight because I've been dismayed by the poor visibility must fans provide. But this is being used in a home-office environment, where I need the most light. Great product! Read more
