I changed my mind! Hear me out..I literally bought this brace intending for it to be DISPOSABLE to use on my upcoming 4-5 day vacation. I intended to use it only in the casinos and then throw it in the trash when we check out of the hotel to go home. I just wanted a cheap brace for this purpose bc I don’t wear my home or sleep braces out of the house in order to keep them clean and germ free. But then this brace arrived and I put it on! It’s a nice brace! What the heck? only about $12?? Listen, I have two $65 EACH Pricilla copper infused braces that I wear every night to sleep. If I considered those to be a 10/10 then this $12 brace is at least a 7/10 and only because I have $65 braces to compare it to! The fabric on the expensive pair is very soft. These Hycoprot braces are nice with metal support that curves at the palm of my hand to support the wrist. Metal on top too. (See pics) This WILL keep your wrist stable!! The metal is NOT removable but you could put a slit in the fabric underneath & remove it if you needed to & still use it. The fabric on these are okay. Not scratchy, kind of stiff and not soft at all but not bothersome. The part that goes between your thumb and index finger is very flexible and thin and the edging there is soft. That part will not aggravate your skin or dig in. It’s vet comfortable right there. I’ve gone through several types of braces for my carpal tunnel & I actually got two brand new ones from the ortho department at my dr appt today and these braces feel just as sturdy. I’m not sure about how long they’ll hold up or if they’ll survive being washed but I truly plan on buying a $6/pair for the casino and keep these because it would be a shame to waste this brace. If you’re looking for something inexpensive but need it to actually help you then go ahead and get this brace. It’s definitely a good buy! SIZE- I got a small but I have tiny wrists that are almost 6 inches around and this brace fits nice and snug but I can loosen it a lot. If you’re not sure definitely measure your wrist. Color- All of my other braces only came in black and I wanted something that didn’t draw attention so I love that these braces are beige. They look very nice. I hope this helps someone out. I bought these after having bilateral carpel tunnel release surgery and I have been more than happy with them. After CTR surgery, you're supposed to move your fingers and use your hands. I had to return to work earlier than I probably should have...and I work in a concrete testing laboratory where I test the compressive strength of concrete cylinders in a special hydraulic press. Each cylinder is 4"x8" and weigh an average of 9lbs each. I break an average of 80 of them a day, and lift each cylinder at least 4 times (from the curing room to the basket, to the table, to the break machine, then to the dumpster)...so I HAD to have some kind of support for my hands and forearms. These were better than anything I could have asked for. The low profile on the palm made it so I could grasp, lift, and write easily while also providing important support to my muscles and tendons that we're learning new tricks. I could quickly and easily tighten and loosen them depending on how much support I needed. I could also loosen them enough to slip these long and narrow ice backs in the front and in the back and then cinch them closed to ice my wrists and hands both at the same time without having to hold the ice packs on there. I made my own "stockinettes" to go under the braces to add padding and support by taking some brand new over-the-knee boot socks and cutting off the foot, so it was just a long tube. I then cut those in half so I had two for each hand. To get the thumb hole just right, I slipped the tube over my hand and forearm and adjusted it to how I high I wanted it on my fingers, and cut a tiny hole right at the first knuckle of my thumb where it attaches to the hand, then stuck my thumb through and and cut a tiny bit at a time while also adjusting it in to exactly where I wanted it to be so the hole wouldn't be too big. I made two for each hand because some days I needed the extra layer for padding, as they were kinda thin socks. The second layer also had an effect of keeping my wrists warm - which after the first week post-op, was helpful with pain management. Prior to surgery, cold made my hands hurt SO BAD, and once the initial surgical swelling went down, the heat helped the most to keep my hands moving. I was still icing a couple times a day because I was working 1 week post-op, and manual labor made my hands swell by the end of each day, so I would ice them a few times during the day and then at night before bed. They have plastic supports, so they're not crazy rigid - definitely not for a fracture, but more for soft tissue injury and recovery...which is EXACTLY what I needed for CTR surgery. There was some stitching on the left brace that rubbed on the top of my forearm and was kind of irritating. I could never find exactly where it was, and it never caused any kind of abrasion or anything that you could actually see, but I made the stockinette socks long enough to go about 2" past the brace on my forearm and that completely eliminated that problem. I had to hand wash the braces a few times because concrete testing is dirty...and I spilled Dr. Pepper on myself one day because CTR surgery = zero hand strength for a few weeks. They were no trouble to wash by hand and I just hung them to dry. Overall I was extremely pleased with how they worked for me for post-op CTR surgery. Being flexible enough and low profile to move my hand and wrists, which is VERY important for that specific recovery, but also providing enough support so I could work without injuring myself. And they were super cheap. If you're getting CTR surgery, I would suggest getting the braces and setting everything up PRIOR to surgery...especially the stockinettes. My surgeon's office wasn't great at preparing me for what to expect post-op. They told me multiple times that I would be back to work in 3 to 4 days...even though I explained, in detail, what I do. I even took a time lapse video of myself at work and photos of what I handle. Take what they say and hope for the best but prepare for the worst. But also definitely buy these braces. I needed a backup brace that would allow me to function without my daily activities being too restricted and I wanted “pink”. This is a nice shade of pink that is very similar in color to a pink carnation (1st thing that comes to mind). Something worth considering when looking at different colors is that while ‘pink’ is different and nice, it also tends to get dirty pretty quickly. Equally nice is knowing that it’s machine washable and easy to clean. It’s OK as lite braces go for people with minor wrist pain who would benefit by the support. The brace itself and the material is very lightweight and comfortable and doesn’t make your palm sweaty or smelly, so the material is very breathable. I haven’t experienced any irritation wearing the brace but my old one will definitely remain the primary. I have an xs-s wrist size & old fractures + minor CT that sometimes make standard sizing a challenge when it comes to a proper anatomic fit and compression. The thumb hole and top opening is larger than I’m used to, and the strapping material is also different. This is my first with elastic straps vs the felt non-stretchable velcro straps that are used on others. When adjusting the elastic straps (even semi criss-crossing) it does improve the fit, but I seem to lose a little on comfort & support with the stabilizer. Overall, the design and manufacture of this brace makes this light weight and great for those with minor wrist stress and it is comfortable to sleep in while wearing. It’s double stitched on the velcro ends and has a non-removable splint for stabilization on both top and palm side. It’s lighter than my usual brace which is good, but for it’s also less restrictive for very small wrists which may or may not be suitable to your comfort and needs. Read more
